Unfortunately, there is no one-size-fits-all approach to parenting, and at times, parents are forced to make tough decisions to keep their children safe. This is what a Louisiana mother did. She was left heartbroken after she had to call the sheriff’s department on her 9-year-old daughter. The mom explained her decision in a video as she clarified that her daughter has mental health issues; she also stated that it wasn’t a behavioral thing. Because of this, the young girl throws fits almost every single day, but the last one went too far. During the incident, the girl attacked her mom aggressively to the point where her dad had to pull her off. She then threw a shoe at her 20-month-old brother. They ended up separating her in another room.
Due to the strong nature of the fit, the Louisiana mom called the sheriff’s department. Once they came to get her daughter, she stopped throwing a fit. The mom explained that they had threatened her before with making this call, and this time, they followed through on their threat. Following this, paramedics came in and she was taken to an inpatient facility. She would allegedly spend about a week there. The family had to do additional things, such as making their daughter’s psychiatrist submit a form to put her on the waiting list for a residential facility. To the mom, the whole situation is heartbreaking. She, however, has to think of her other kids’ safety as well.
After narrating what happened, the mom said that she was sharing this story so that other parents who struggle with the same thing would know that they aren’t alone. Involving the authorities seemed like the last solution for the poor family. They have tried several things to help their daughter including medications, therapists, and wraparound care. In an update, the mom said that when they went to the girl’s therapy session at the facility, she refused to talk. It seems they still have a long road ahead in getting their daughter the help she needs. Hopefully, she’ll be able to receive that support soon.

That’s behaviour by choice.” This made the mom explain that the therapist said this wasn’t true.

This is why one person wrote, “I don’t think this information needs to be so public.” Others thought that it was a good thing that she shared the story. “Yes this does! People need to be made more aware of. A lot of people are falling through the cracks and need help‼!” another person said. More advice also came in as one woman commented, “TAKE AWAY ALL SCREEN TIME. THAT IS CAUSING MENTAL HEALTH AND ANGER IN CHILDREN. Im seeing it first hand with many children ive worked with.” The family might try this, especially since they are probably open to any recommendation that would help with this situation.
