Heartbroken Pennsylvania Pet Owner Loses Dog to Group Cremation After Service Clicks Wrong Button: ‘This Would Destroy Me’

I can’t imagine what she must be feeling

There aren’t a lot of things that hurt more than losing your pet. Whenever we lose somebody or something they love, we try to keep them in our life. A Pennsylvania pet owner decided to do that, but she didn’t expect it to break her heart further. She shared a voicemail sent to her by the owner of the pet cremation service she depended on. Apparently, she chose to give her dog, Deja, a private cremation. Instead of doing that, the service gave Deja a mixed cremation. The reason why this happened is more tragic: Someone from the team clicked the wrong button. So she lost the remains of her dog due to a small and avoidable mistake.

In all honesty, the owner of the Pennsylvania service did sound like he felt horrible. What happened is still devastating. He made sure to apologize to Deja’s owner. He clarified that the group cremation the dog ended up being part of is now at Abbey Glen’s memorial garden. The pet owner also got back a full refund. During the rest of the voicemail, the service owner apologized twice more. He also gave her the number of the memorial garden in case she wanted to go there. Deja’s owner was kind enough and didn’t lose their cool “I’m not upset with anyone, I’m upset with how easy this could have been prevented,” she wrote. Not everyone would be able to have the same sentiment. I hope that she will be able to heal from this unfortunate situation.

People Reacting to What Happened to The Pennsylvania Pet Owner

Not everyone was as forgiving as the Pennsylvania pet owner. Many shared how they would have felt, and they also encouraged her to sue. “I’m so serious this is 100% the time to sue for emotional damage not even exaggerating. This would destroy me,” one person wrote. Another person also said, “3 letters, SUE.” Not everyone agreed with this as some found it an extreme reaction. “Human error and people jump to ‘sue them!’ At least it’s at a memorial garden. Could’ve always ended up worse,” someone commented. The owner should be allowed to make whatever decision would bring her closure.

Others tried to make the Pennsylvania girl feel better about what happened as one person said, “They sounded apologetic, they owned up to it, and they did a complete refund. This was an unfortunate situation but this was handled professionally and with grace. I’m sorry this happened to you, but I’m sure your pup loved crossing the bridge with some new friends.” Another person then wrote, “I was very against group cremations until I saw someone say they were glad their dog didnt have to do it alone. That being said, I am still so sorry that happened to you.” Looking at the situation like this could be one way to heal from what happened and see anything positive in it.
