Sometimes life puts you in situations where saving a loved one matters more than following the law. That’s exactly what happened in Arkansas when a desperate woman rushed to get her mother, who was having a stroke, to the hospital. Police, however, saw only a speeding driver and began chasing her.
Despite her hazard lights flashing, a clear signal that something was wrong, the officers pressed on. Their actions came across as heartless, showing no concern for the mother’s condition. During the pursuit, one officer even threatened to run the woman off the road if she didn’t pull over. Moments later, after she briefly slowed down, the officer used a pit maneuver to force her car to a complete stop.
Chaos started right after the police forced the Arkansas woman to stop. She told the cop, while crying, that her mom was having a stroke. His response? “I don’t care.” He then kept repeating for her and those with her to get out of the car. You could hear her begging him to help, but his only focus is on arresting her. “I ain’t shooting unless I have to,” he said. Your heart breaks a little bit more as she keeps saying, “Please help her.” It’s a terrifying situation to find yourself in, especially when you are trying to save your mom. “My mom is having a stroke,” she repeated several times before saying, “Please take my mom to the hospital.” The cop wasn’t fazed as he continued the arrest.
More cops then appear, and instead of helping the woman’s mom, they told the rest of those in the car that they weren’t allowed to leave. I thought their priority should be the person whose health isn’t okay. The cop then proceeded to arrest a man who was in the car as well. He told him that he understood it was a medical emergency and that if they had pulled over, he could have helped them rather than speeding. Well, they made a mistake, you stopped them, why don’t you help the woman who needs help, and then come back and berate them?
Finally, the cop told someone to call an ambulance because there was a stroke victim. You could hear an ambulance nearing the scene a minute later. If this ended badly and something happened to the mom, I don’t know how any of these cops would be able to live with themselves. Even if the family made a mistake, they could have shown some sympathy. They could have helped first and then asked questions later. Leaving the daughter in the back of a police car, handcuffed and not knowing if someone would help her mom or not, is just cruel.
People Reacting to the Heartless Arkansas Cops
What the Arkansas cops did disgusted almost everyone. Any sane person would think that saving someone’s life would have been more important. With the way one of the cops behaved, one person wrote, “Guy: ‘My mom is having a stroke’. Police: ‘I don’t care.’ Bad things are happening in America.” Another person questioned the cops’ priorities as they asked, “her mom is having a stroke and their priority is to arrest her? Her hazards are turned on. That shouldve atleast give them an idea what if its an emergency?” This made someone else reply and say, “so when a criminal is speeding with their hazards on the police should leave them alone?” Not a lot of people liked this reply as one woman wrote:
“She was barely speeding the cop was going 70-80 mph on a highway… she has her hazard lights on and as soon as she said her mom was having a stroke he should’ve called an emt and he didn’t. Clearly you’ve never dealt with a stroke or someone going thru a stroke.”
More people were upset on behalf of the Arkansas woman. Some were even frustrated as one person wrote, “WHY WOUKD SHE PULL OVER TO TALK AB IT!??????????????? HER MOM IS LITERALLY HAVING A STROKE. TALK AB WHAT??????? SHE CAN DIE.” Another person didn’t believe that the driver was causing any danger. “How is it dangerous? The highway was practically EMPTY and they were driving completely safely. AND SHE HAD HER HAZARDS ON. Americas so dystopian,” they wrote. Someone else wasn’t a fan of America after what they just saw as they said, “America is just the worst place to find yourself as a human being.” Others mentioned how they would have acted as one person wrote, “This officer is in the wrong, if the mom died I would be taking them to court.” Let’s just hope that the mom was okay in the end.
