If you haven’t visited Hearts of Iron IV lately, its Gotterdammerung expansion might be the one thing that’ll bring you back instantly. This DLC will not only focus on the Reich but also bring a plethora of additions like National Focus Trees, special projects, and even alternate histories. Even if Hearts of Iron IV is already full of content, this expansion will make the grand strategy game even grander. So, keep an eye on your calendar because this historical battleground is not too far away from arriving.

Hearts of Iron IV: Götterdämmerung | Official Announcement Trailer

Hearts of Iron IV: Gotterdammerung will launch on November 14, 2024. If you own the Expansion Pass 1, you’ll be able to play it instantly. If not, you can get it for $24.99. Regardless of how you obtain it, you can expect a lot of new content, such as the following:

  • Larger German Focus Tree: Alternate historical paths. Revised political paths. New character-driven events.
  • Revised Austrian Focus Tree: Alternate histories for Austria free of German control.
  • Hungarian Focus Tree: You can now use technology to overcome manpower shortages.
  • Belgian Focus Tree: The option to resist or welcome German supremacy.
  • Special Projects: Nuclear physics, advanced aircraft, rocketry, advanced tanks and artillery, and more.
  • Raids: The ability to attack important enemy targets, such as industrial structures, research facilities, and more.

Beyond that, players can also expect many improvements to the AI coming with the release of Hearts of Iron IV: Gotterdammerung. Some of these improvements include AI players being better at planning attacks, changes to how effective atomic warfare is used, and even improved city combat.

The way I see it, Gotterdammerung is the perfect way to experience Hearts of Iron IV. So, if you’re looking for yet another long playthrough but want to spice it up with alternate histories or try the new systems, save the date for November 14 because everyone will likely return to this engaging strategy game.
