Popeyes is typically the place to go for some delicious Louisiana-style fried chicken and moreish Cajun and Creole flavors. But like many fast-food establishments, disagreements over orders or wait times can occasionally lead to heated altercations. In Missouri recently, a Popeyes employee was caught on camera arguing with a displeased customer, and was even seen throwing a jug of iced tea over the frustrated patron. The footage is making the rounds online at the moment.
The video clip is recorded by a fellow patron in the Popeyes establishment in Missouri, and sees a customer sporting an olive green t-shirt and black pants as he’s stood at the counter, with an employee serving him. There’s quite a lot of commotion, so it’s a little tricky to make out exactly what is being said, but it sounds like the customer is saying, “Get my order right. You liberal–” but is cut off by the worker who is also yelling loudly. The employee retorts, “What the [expletive] did you get? I’ll get your bucket now! I’m not even liberal you stupid idiot! You’re a [expletive] moron!”
It’s worth noting, that on the counter in front of the man and the employee is a large pitcher of iced tea. As tensions continue to escalate, and as the man repeatedly fires back, “You’re trouble!” to the employee, the worker lashes out and pushes the pitcher over, which spills all over the customer. Luckily, the iced tea isn’t hot, but it still covers the customer, which will likely stain his clothes, and only make matters worse.
In a surprising twist, the frustrated customer suddenly bursts into laughter, turning the moment into an unexpected ‘gotcha’. Interestingly, the customer covered in iced tea retorts, “That’s what I love right there! Can you call the police? That’s your worker. I’m gonna file charges on her.“
While the clip continues to circulate online, netizens took to the comments to air their two cents on the dramatic confrontation. Even though many people sided with the irate customer, some were a little critical of how the customer seemed to provoke the Popeyes employee. Over on Reddit, one person wrote, “I wanna know what led up to this because you usually have to be a real [expletive] to make a fast food worker pop off and smash stuff in front of you. Also “get my order right, you liberal […]” – yeahhhh I can already guess this guy’s whole personality.” A second even harsher commenter chimed in with, “A troll in human form feeding off the anger of others.”
Elsewhere, over on Instagram, one remark read, “His lawsuit gone be so lovely enjoy retirement bro 😎” while another chipped in, “That’s a real man, no matter how it started he still walked away and laughed at the situation…….good job Dad” A fifth commenter also noted the customer’s unusual laughter at the end, and simply added, “That laugh said ” I know money coming my way ““
At the time of writing, it’s unclear whether the police were called to the scene, but it’s definitely not a good look for the Popeyes employee at the heart of the drama.
