When somebody makes a false claim to their insurance company, it’s a cut-and-dry case of insurance fraud. This happens often with people claiming that somebody hit their car in a parking lot when it actually didn’t happen. What they’re hoping for is you to admit fault and they’ll get a payout even when it never actually took place. A California man apparently thought he could pull off this scam with a woman in a parking lot. However, she quickly shut him down and proved the accident couldn’t have possibly happened… and she got it on video.
Amelia (@amelia_garces128) shared a TikTok video of an interaction she had with an alleged scammer in a parking lot in California. In the video, she’s seen arguing back and forth with a man in the parking lot as they stand at their vehicles. Both vehicles are parked within their respective lines. Amelia opens her car door as far as it can possibly go. It’s nowhere near close to striking the man’s vehicle. She does this in an attempt to prove that she never struck his vehicle with her car door, like he’s accusing her of.
Amelia exclaims, “My door is open all the way!” but the man continues arguing with her and recording her on video. He tells her, “You’ll get what’s coming to you” and she says, “Go ahead! I will show this to my insurance.” He continues to loudly argue with her as he angrily gets inside his own vehicle.
When the man finally had enough, he tells Amelia, “You know what? I hope your whole family dies. Goodbye.” It’s clear that he thought he was going to get some money out of her by making a false report. Amelia says on video while he’s listening to her, “He wants to scam people; that’s what he wants to do.” This makes him even angrier and he continues to berate her, telling her she struck his car. On top of that, he won’t even take a look at his own door. However, he’s fine with making the claim that she struck it with her own door. It’s a classic case of a scammer trying to rile someone up with threats.
In the end, the man demands an apology but Amelia won’t give him one because, as she says, “I didn’t do anything to you.” One commenter pointed out that Amelia definitely wasn’t in the wrong. They said, “The way both your cars are safely within the lines.” Another commenter quipped, “All that for a 15 year old Honda is wild.” It’s a good thing he knew when to admit defeat and walk away from his own mistakes before things got even more heated.
