You’ve heard of Hellblade right? It’s not exactly a game on everyone’s radar along the lines of Halo or Uncharted, but anyone who’s played Heavenly Sword, Enslaved, or the Devil May Cry reboot, knows the game’s developer, Ninja Theory.
Last year at Gamescom Ninja Theory debuted a trailer for their newest game, set to be released for PS4 and PC. Up until now we’ve seen footage from developer diaries that have been released, but in their latest Diary, #11, they’ve given us a concrete date when they’ll debut the gameplay for Hellblade. And it’s soon.
“We’re now approaching the most important phase of development so far, where we’ll define how Hellblade will look, play, and feel,” said Dominic Matthews of Product Development for Ninja Theory.
The graphics and models look promising in the video, despite the team saying that the game has been messy and frustrating in its early test phases. Still they’re taking all the feedback they’re receiving from their testers and applying it to the development as it moves forward.
At the end of the video, we’re given the message: Gameplay and more. June 10.
Hellblade is a game that’s designed to look and feel like a AAA quality game with and indie sized development team. You can see bits and pieces of gameplay in the diary video, including exploration and combat. Also shown is an interesting enemy design, begging the question of what happened in the world to make him look like he does, and we get more glimpses of the game’s protagonist, Senua.
And in three weeks, we’ll be given even more. Has this game been on your “to-watch” list? What do you think of the progress Ninja Theory is making? With game’s like Heavenly Sword and Enslaved and their incredible concepts and scenery, it’s hard not to be excited to see what’s in store for us in Hellblade.
Stay tuned to The Nerd Stash, where we’ll have more coverage after the June 10 gameplay reveal.
