The N64 games as part of the newly announced expansion for the new Nintendo Switch Expansion pack are due to go live later today in America, and then tomorrow for other areas around the world, such as Europe and Japan. While Nintendo hasn’t officially revealed what time the N64 and Genesis / Mega Drive games will go live on Switch, there’s strong evidence pointing towards when fans should expect them to arrive for Nintendo’s console.
N64 games on Switch as part of the expansion pack will likely go live for players at around 7 PM PT/3 AM BST.
Nintendo of America has said Switch Online’s Expansion Pack will go live on Monday, October 25, while both the company’s Europe and Japan divisions have provided an October 26 live date, which suggests a US evening arrival for the games. What will provide more concrete information is the maintenance times for the platform.
According to the company, the Switch Online service will be offline between 4 PM and 7 PM PT (12 – 3 AM BST). In addition to this, the Nintendo eShop is scheduled to be offline between 5 PM and 6:30 PM PT (1 AM – 2:30 AM BST).
Last week Nintendo confirmed that pricing for its new Expansion Pack Switch Online membership tier will be double that of the standard subscription. The Expansion Pack tier – which is required to play N64 and Sega games – will cost $49.99 / €39.99 / £ 34.99 for a 12-month individual membership, while a Family Membership will cost $79.99 / €69.99 / £ 59.99 for 12 months.
Players who purchase this additional expansion will also get access to the recently announced Animal Crossing: New Horizons DLC coming on November 5 as well as the N64 games on Switch, all for free if they own the new subscription service, but will lose access if they cancel their subscription.
