If you are a Kojima fan but just couldn’t get your hands on the game due to console exclusivity, now is the ideal opportunity to experience Hideo Kojima’s first independent game since his departure from Konami in 2015. The announcement was made when the clock hit 12 AM in Japan, meaning it has been exactly five years since we got to experience the story of Sam Bridges played by Norman Reedus, in a post-apocalyptic world that is unlike anything we’ve seen before. This likely means that the exclusivity period between Sony and Kojima Productions has come to an end.
The Death Stranding release on Xbox will be the Director’s Cut of the game and will come with Achievements, cloud saves, Play Anywhere, Photo Mode, Ultra-Wide monitor support, etc. The game has come a long way since its initial release.
It might seem that the Death Stranding IP is no longer tied to the Sony platform, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. Death Stranding 2: On The Beach is still planned to be PlayStation 5 exclusive and may have an exclusivity period just like the first game. We will have to wait and see if the end of the exclusivity extends to the whole IP or just the first installment.
