The issues between Konami and Kojima Productions doesn’t seem to be getting any better as Hideo Kojima’s name has now been taken off of the final art work for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain even though he said he would be committed to Metal Gear Solid V until its release.

Not only is ‘A Hideo Kojima Game’ missing from the top of the box art also in the lower left hand corner the Kojima Productions logo is also absent from the image.

One with and one without Hideo Kojima and his production company mentioned.

Earlier this week the Japanese voice actor for Solid Snake Akio Otsuko confirmed the closure of Kojima Productions saying

“Kojima Productions was forced to disband, but it appears that the work that the team has been putting their utmost effort into is nearly complete,”

“Iโ€™m not exaggerating when I say that I expect it will become their greatest masterpiece. I couldnโ€™t help it. I just wanted to say ‘Kept you waiting, huh?’ But even if this is the end, Metal Gear Solid is immortal!”

A brief look at Konami and Kojima’s adventure together started back in 1987 with the original release of Metal Gear and followed by 1990’a Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, but not until Metal Gear Solid was released in 1998 did the full potential of this type of game change the world.

Metal Gear Solid was very well received, shipping more than six million copies, and scoring an average of 94/100 Metacritic. It is regarded by many critics as one of the greatest and most important games of all time, and is often seen as the game which helped popularize the stealth genre.

Upon release in 2001, Metal Gear Solid 2 received a large amount of critical praise, having sold over 7 million copies worldwide and maintaining an average of 96% on Metacritic, where it is the fourth highest-rated game on the PlayStation 2, and the tied sixth highest-rated game of all time.

2004 brought Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater was critically acclaimed, and was given high scores by some of the most gaming critics, Metacritic, the game had an average score of 91/100.

2008 showed us a new Sony generation Console and to follow that a new Metal Gear Solid Game titledย Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots which has received critical acclaim, gaining ย 94/100 on Metacritic and apparently sold 6 million units as of 2014 making it one of the best selling exclusives on PlayStation 3.

So how do you feel about Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain? With it being released on Xbox One and PS4 no one has an excuse to miss the game this time round.

I know I missed out some of the portable games and other add ons but I thought i’d cover the big ones leading unto V.

What do you think will come form Kojima next?
