After the first video of Alex Pretti’s tragic shooting in Minnesota surfaced, many people hoped that additional angles would eventually be released. One perspective viewers were especially waiting for was footage taken by a woman wearing a pink coat. While she did manage to post her video, it appears doing so was not easy.
New footage has since gone viral on Reddit, showing what many believe are ICE agents attempting to confiscate phones from eyewitnesses at the scene. The video begins with two ICE agents on top of a protester, wrestling him to the ground. Nearby, another protester can be heard repeatedly asking them to stop while filming the confrontation.
Moments later, a different agent abruptly snatches the woman’s phone out of her hands. The camera captures the moment clearly, and the woman can be heard yelling, “Give me my phone,” as the agent walks away with it. The footage strongly suggests that the agent intentionally took and kept the phone, intensifying outrage over what many see as an effort to suppress evidence and control what the public can see.
The Minnesota ICE agent could still be seen holding the phone he had just taken as other agents continued yelling at nearby protesters. Because the phone’s camera was still recording, viewers could both see and hear the chaos unfolding. The footage briefly showed several agents surrounding the woman in the pink coat before the scene shifted again.
In the next moment, it appeared that agents had thrown another person to the ground. The remainder of the video captured continued shouting, physical struggles, and confusion. For many watching, it raised a pointed question: if the agent who killed Pretti truly acted in self-defense, why wouldn’t officials want as many videos as possible to surface and support that narrative?
This apparent intimidation wasn’t an isolated incident. One witness later shared a sworn testimony describing her fear in the aftermath of the shooting. “I feel afraid. Only hours have passed since they shot a man right in front of me and I don’t feel like I can go home because I heard agents were looking for me,” she stated. “I don’t know what the agents will do when they find me. I do know that they’re not telling the truth about what happened. I’ve heard that other witnesses might have been arrested and taken to the Whipple Building.”
For many, her account underscored the fear and uncertainty witnesses say they faced after the deadly encounter.
People Reacting to the Video of the Minnesota ICE Agents
Just as people were furious over the shooting in Minnesota, many were equally outraged by footage showing agents taking protesters’ phones. Viewers argued that this never should have happened. One person described ICE agents as “masked thugs terrorizing citizens.” Another wrote, “Pink coat lady recorded the best POV possible of today’s execution. Obviously, the real domestic terrorists want to kill the truth as quickly as they kill civilians.”
Those reactions prompted others to urgently reshare the video captured from the woman’s perspective. When it became clear that the footage hadn’t been deleted, one person expressed relief, writing, “OH THANK HEAVENS IT MADE IT ONLINE.”
A Reddit user emphasized why preserving the footage mattered, even if it was difficult to watch. “I really don’t want to watch an innocent civilian be executed by fascists, but the footage must be saved. Archiving and record-keeping is so important at the moment for a number of reasons,” they wrote.
For many, the focus shifted beyond outrage to documenting what happened and ensuring it could not be erased.
Others went even further, arguing that what the Minnesota ICE agents were filmed doing amounted to outright theft. “That’s theft. Not taking. There is no right to do that. That’s theft and should be treated as such,” one person wrote. Another escalated the accusation, replying, “Felony burglary, as he had a weapon.”
Some commenters said the situation went far beyond theft. “It’s worse than just theft. It’s evidence tampering, intimidation, abuse of power. The list is long,” another person added.
Others focused on Alex Pretti himself, insisting he posed no threat at the time he was killed. One Reddit user wrote, “I’ve seen three different angles so far, including from the woman in the pink coat. He was armed with a pistol in a holster in his rear waistband. They disarmed him before any shots were fired. He never reached for the gun, and both of his hands were on the pavement when he was shot.”
For many, following the footage and eyewitness accounts, the conclusion was clear in their minds: Pretti should not have been killed.
