Aventurine also deals some good damage on his own, as he can deal AoE follow-up attacks as your team’s shields are hit or if your allies perform follow-up attacks of their own. Aventurine is a Preservation character, and your main focus for Aventurine should be to raise his DEF to a certain level to maximize his shields. If you’re interested in a more damage-slanted Aventurine, you’ll still want to raise his DEF, as his damage scales off of DEF rather than ATK. Here are some builds you can try out:

Best Build for Aventurine in Honkai Star Rail: Light Cones & Relics

Aventurine’s best Light Cones are the ones that raise his DEF. You’ll want as much DEF as possible to strengthen his shields and damage. As a result, we’ll go over the best Light Cones to use based on how you want to build your Aventurine.

1	Inherently Unjust Destiny (5*): This is Aventurine’s signature Light Cone and his best option. This Light Cone increases Aventurine’s DEF by 36% and a Crit DMG increase of 40% after providing shields to his allies. This Light Cone also debuffs the enemy, causing them to take 8% more DMG after Aventurine performs a follow-up attack.
2	Moment of Victory (5*): Gepard’s signature Light Cone is his next best option, and is very close in performance and potentially overtakes his signature Light Cone if you are attempting to build Aventurine for his shields rather than damage. This Light Cone buffs Aventurine’s DEF by up to 48%. It’s worth noting you can also get this Light Cone for free.
3	Concert for Two (4*): This 4-star Light Cone is a free-to-play friendly option, obtainable through gacha. This Light Cone boosts Aventurine’s DEF by up to 32% and DMG by 32%, but it’s worth noting that this has lower base stats as a 4-star.
4	Destiny’s Threads Forewoven (4*): This 4-star Light Cone is Aventurine’s best free-to-play option, boosting Aventurine’s damage by 0.8% for every 100 points of DEF, up to 32%. To get maximum effectiveness out of this Light Cone, you’ll need to find a way to have 4000 DEF on Aventurine, which will be difficult as this LC does not provide any extra DEF.

Again, it’s worth reiterating that these Light Cones will also be best if you want to build Aventurine for damage, as his damage scales off of DEF.

Best Support Relics

Here, you can choose to increase Aventurine’s shielding or his sub-DPS damage. Depending on how you want to build Aventurine, you can decide between different Relics. Here are the sets you should consider for a support Aventurine:

Knight of Purity Palace	2-piece: Increases DEF by 15%. 4-piece: Increases the max DMG that can be absorbed by the Shield created by the wearer by 20%.	This Relic set provides an important DEF boost and a boost to Aventurine’s shields. This is his best option if you’re looking to improve Aventurine’s shielding. Focus on rolling as many DEF stats as possible.
Messenger Traversing Hackerspace	2-piece: Increases SPD by 6%. 4-piece: When the wearer uses their Ultimate on an ally, SPD for all allies increases by 12% for 1 turn(s). This effect cannot be stacked.	We are not looking to use the 4-piece set here. For Aventurine’s shields, we want a 4-piece Knight of Purity Palace whenever possible. You can use a 2-piece Knight of Purity Palace and 2-piece Messenger Traversing Hackerspace while farming for better Relics.

Best Sub-DPS Relics

Aventurine’s damage is quite high for a Preservation unit. His damage scales off of DEF, and he gains Crit Rate based on his DEF. As a result, a good build for Aventurine is to find a balance between his shields and his damage.

Note: We want to stack at least 4,000 DEF to take advantage of Aventurine’s Crit Rate passive. As a result, it’s highly recommended to pair the following Relics with a 2-piece Knight of Purity Palace set, making it easier to hit 4,000 DEF.

Ashblazing Grand Duke	2-piece: Increases the DMG of follow-up attacks by 20%. 4-piece: When the wearer uses follow-up attacks, it increases the wearer’s ATK by 6% for every time the follow-up attack deals DMG. This effect can stack up to 8 times and lasts for 3 turns.	The 2-piece version of this set provides a flat increase to Aventurine’s follow-up damage, his main source of damage. Again, we do not recommend the 4-piece set. Pair this set with a 2-piece Knight of Purity Palace. Look to balance Def and Crit Damage for his substats.
Pioneer Diver of Dead Waters	2-piece: Increases DMG dealt to enemies with debuff by 12%. 4-piece: Increases Crit Rate by 4%. The wearer deals 8%/12% increased Crit DMG to enemies with at least 2/3 debuffs. After the wearer inflicts a debuff on enemy targets, the aforementioned effects increase by 100% for 1 turn.	Aventurine can proc some debuffs on enemy targets and will often be paired with teammates who can debuff enemies, such as Dr. Ratio and Topaz * Numby. You can use the 4-piece version of this set if you have good substats, but we do still recommend a 2-piece Knight of Purity Palace alongside this set.

Belobog of the Architects	2-piece: Increases the wearer’s DEF by 15%. When the wearer’s Effect Hit Rate is higher than 50%, the wearer gains an extra 15% DEF.	This is Aventurine’s best set for a support build. You can also use this for Aventurine’s sub-DPS build if you aren’t able to reach 4,000 DEF with the rest of his build.
Inert Salsotto	2-piece: Increases the wearer’s Crit Rate by 8%. When the wearer’s Crit Rate reaches 50% or higher, the wearer’s Ultimate and follow-up attack DMG increases by 15%.	If you can reach 4,000 DEF naturally, this is Aventurine’s best sub-DPS Planar set, boosting his follow-up attack DMG by 15%.

Aventurine synergizes particularly well with follow-up attack party members, as one of his traces gives him stacks towards a follow-up attack when a party member performs a follow-up attack. However, as a shielder, Aventurine can be slotted in many different comps.

Team Comp	Description
Dr. Ratio / Topaz & Numby / Pela / Aventurine	This is one of Aventurine’s best team comps. Dr. Ratio and Topaz & Numby both perform follow-up attacks, charging Aventurine’s follow-up attacks. Topaz & Numby also increase the DMG of follow-up attacks. Pela is an additional debuffer, but you can replace Pela with any other support debuffer / buffer like Silver Wolf or Sparkle.
Acheron / Pela / Silver Wolf / Aventurine	Aventurine will work as a support unit for Acheron, as he can apply some debuffs to help charge Acheron’s Ultimate. Note: Aventurine’s follow-up attack rate will be lower, as Acheron does not perform follow-up attacks herself. We recommend a support Aventurine build with this team composition.
Dr. Ratio / Tingyun / Asta / Aventurine	This is a free-to-play friendly comp to help buff Dr. Ratio’s damage as much as possible. Dr. Ratio was given for free to all active players, so here, the only premium character you’ll need is Aventurine. Tingyun and Asta will buff Dr. Ratio, while Aventurine will focus on protecting the team.
