On their social media, Honkai Star Rail shared the drip marketing of the upcoming playable characters Xueyi, Ruan Mei, Dr. Ratio, and Hanya. But many Honkai Star Rail fans are angry with the designs of these new characters, especially with the girls’ outfits.
Honkai Star Rail Angry Fans Claim that the New Characters’ Designs are Too Similar
The debate occurred on Reddit and Twitter, where some fans complained that the girls’ clothes from The Xianzhou Luofu look alike. They posted side-to-side images of Jingliu, Yukon, Xueyi, Ruan Mei, Hanya, and Guinaifen. This is to point out that the details of the dress with the corset, the shoulder pads, and the necklace of their accord are almost identical. The community even says developers need more creativity.
They also added images of the Belobog girls, saying that although the clothing has a similar color palette, this has a reason. It is because Pela and Bronya are part of the Silvermane Guards. While Natasha and Seele have a more unique design because they are from the Underworld and members of Wildfire.
Other people also pointed out that the characters of Xianzhou might have very similar clothes because they are from the same “region.” This was denied by users who compared the new character designs of Honkai Star Rail with Liyue’s characters in Genshin Impact. They claimed that although they all come from a China-based region, characters like Zhongli, Yelan, and Hu Tao have very different clothes. But players can still distinguish from where they come from.
