The Simulated Universe: Swarm Disaster is a permanent game mode in Honkai Star Rail. This game mode lets players tackle the good old Simulated Universe to take on new challenges and reap fantastic rewards. This time, though, more things allow you to customize your run and provide bonuses to make your characters more powerful. Whether you’re all about Acheron and Argenti or you’re a March 7th and Silver Wolf devotee, this guide will tell you how every mechanic works in this permanent event.
How to Unlock Swarm Disaster in Honkai Star Rail?

Before we delve into specifics, you must know how to unlock the new Swarm Disaster mode for the Simulated Universe of Honkai Star Rail. To do that, you must clear World 5 of the aforementioned game mode. While there isn’t a specific level for that, you should reach level 60 or 70 for an easier time. Once you do that, follow the mission to unlock this new mode.
How Does Swarm Disaster Work?
Like many Honkai Star Rail systems, this one might initially be overwhelming. Thankfully, many things will feel familiar if you’ve spent time in the Simulated Universe. Here, we’ll break down everything you must do on a normal run of the Swarm Disaster mode.
Choosing a Path
Just like the original Simulated Universe, players must choose a path. This path will determine the Blessings you’ll likely get and the Resonance bonus, just like in the original game mode. The thing about this new game mode is that you’ll get bonus effects if you complete certain actions related to your path.
Planes
You’ll notice that this time, instead of going through portals, the character will be dropped on a plane with several domains. These domains represent the type of content you’ll get, and you can find the following:
- Combat
- Elite
- Boss
- Occurrence
- Reward
- Adventure
- Respite
- Transaction
- Combat: Swarm
- Occurrence: Swarm
- Boss: Swarm
Most of them are exactly like the ones in the original Simulated Universe; however, there are new ones for the Swarm Disaster mode in Honkai Star Rail. Combat, Occurrence, and Boss: Swarm domains will give players to obtain Blessings of Propagation, which is the new mechanic in this mode. If you spot one, we recommend you check it; however, remember these domains are some of the hardest. Each Difficulty Level has 3 Planes, which must be completed by defeating the boss.
Audience Dice
The Audience Dice is a new mechanic in the Swarm Disaster mode that gives players a bonus after they finish a domain. Some bonuses will increase damage, while others will change domains completely on the existing plane.
Swarm Disaster Rewards
There are two big rewards in the Swarm Disaster game mode of Honkai Star Rail. Stellar Jade and the new Blessings of Propagation; the latter can be unlocked for the base Simulated Universe. You can achieve these rewards by unlocking chapters in Swarm Disaster. These chapters unlock after beating certain enemies, facing specific events, or following a path. This gives a lot of replayability and randomness to every run.
