Quitting the game after finishing the final objective in the main quest in Last Epoch is a mistake. It doesn’t end with the ending, as is the case with most action RPGs. Instead, you get ushered into the endgame like a blood and mucus-soaked infant fresh out of its mother’s womb. And do prepare to become bloodied (and mucus-soaked) again in that phase, unless you know how the endgame works in Last Epoch. We’ll tell you what to expect, don’t worry.
The Types of End Game in Last Epoch
Currently, you have three types of actual endgame in Last Epoch and all of them have varying levels of difficulty, with one of them offering near-infinite scaling.
You can choose to focus on one or, better, on all of them as they come with various rewards. You can even access some of them before you finish the main quest. But we don’t recommend that on your first playthrough. Here are the endgame types in Last Epoch and their details.
Monolith of Fate/Empowered Monoliths
You can access the Monolith of Fate or simply “Monolith” once you get to the End of Time area around level 20+ during the main quest (it’s to the right of the End of Time area).
However, the first Echo or map in the Monolith chain is for level 58 players so that’s when you should start (perhaps you can start as early as level 50). These are alternate timelines with their own quirks.
The goal in Monoliths is to unlock the different timelines up to the level 90 Echoes or maps. You can do this by completing Monolith Echos to advance the progression bar at the top-center which will unlock the Echo’s boss.
After finishing level 90 Echoes, you will unlock level 100 Echoes and the Corruption modifier which will increase the map’s difficulty. This is where the real Monolith endgame starts and where you can reap most of the endgame rewards. Corruption also scales infinitely, depending on how much you can handle, so keep challenging yourself.
Dungeons
Dungeons, like Monoliths, are also accessible during the main quest but you need special keys to access them. If you pick up a weird dungeon key with a pink or red name, just right-click it and it will show you the Dungeon’s location.
The Dungeon then has several difficulty levels and the last difficulty level is the toughest and is what’s considered as the endgame version of the dungeon in Last Epoch. They hold different rewards, with some letting you customize items with Legendary Potential.
Arena
The Arena is a more straightforward endgame in Last Epoch. It’s basically just a near-endless wave of enemies rushing at you. The goal is to survive. It works similarly to Dungeons and each attempt requires special keys (which you can also right-click to show the location).
Unlike the other endgame types in the Last Epoch game, the Arena has fewer material rewards and is more of a metric to test out your builds. But who knows, maybe the real reward is the enemies you slaughtered along the way.
