The Mortal Kombat series always has an elaborate story mode, but how long will it take for you to finish Mortal Kombat 1‘s story? Ever since Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, every Mortal Kombat title has a campaign mode split between chapters. Each chapter stars a different character in the main playable roster. Fans praise the storylines in the franchise for being well-thought-out. However, the story modes also get criticized for having unnecessary padding and being a little long. Nevertheless, Mortal Kombat 1 features plenty of chapters yet won’t take you long to beat.
How Long Does It Take To Beat Mortal Kombat 1?
While the Mortal Kombat games can have some unnecessary filler to draw out the game’s runtime, Mortal Kombat 1 will not take you long to beat. Depending on what difficulty you set the mode in, it will take you, on average, between 10 to 12 hours to complete the campaign. If you’re particularly good at the title, you can potentially finish the story in an even shorter time, maybe even beat it within an afternoon.
The game features an alternate timeline where Liu Kang is god. The new timeline features alternate histories of classic characters, establishing new backstories for most fighters. Nonetheless, an unforeseen evil brews underneath Liu Kang’s attempts to create an ideal timeline.

There are 15 chapters in the title’s story mode. The chapters are split up into four acts. Each chapter has you take control of one character and fight several matches as that character. Most chapters have only four fights, but several chapters will tag in an extra match to keep you on your toes.
