Persona 3 Reload adds a ton of new features to the RPG, including Theurgy abilities, special attacks that can be activated after charging them. Not only does each party member in Persona 3 Reload have their own unique Theurgy ability, they also have a unique way of activating them. While the meter does slowly build over time, if you want to use these special attacks more frequently, you need to focus on each character’s specific activation requirements. Mild spoilers below, as every party member you get in Persona 3 Reload is listed.

Every character has a unique way to activate their Theurgy ability in Persona 3 Reload. Theurgy abilities are unlocked shortly after Fuuka joins SEES during an exploration of Tartarus. Once unlocked, every character’s Thuergy ability is available. The meter builds at the start of each characters turn and when they use their Persona, but only by a small amount. Below is a list of each character’s unique way of building their meter.

  • Protagonist: Builds from using Persona abilites
  • Yukari: Builds from healing teammates via Persona abilities
  • Junpei: Builds from landing critical hits
  • Akihiko: Builds from buffing his own attack
  • Mitsuru: Builds from inflicting status effects
  • Fuuka: Builds over time
  • Aigis: Builds from using physical Persona skills
  • Koromaru: Builds from exploiting enemy weaknesses
  • Ken: Have less than half SP
  • Shinjiro: Have less than half HP

For Fuuka’s Theurgy, her meter just builds up over time. While she does have a few Persona abilities you can activate in Persona 3 Reload, they don’t seem to impact her Theurgy meter. For Ken and Shinjiro, the meter only appears to build from meeting these requirements at the start of their turn. That means after you drop below half SP/HP, you get the boost next turn, as long as they are still below half. Again, all Theurgy meters build from just using Persona abilities and at the start of turns, so you will still get to use the abilities even without meeting these requirements.

Persona 3 Reload is available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.
