Despite his rough and dangerous appearance, Barret is a soft-hearted person who bears a lot of guilt for his mistakes. While he prefers to keep moving forward, his past eventually catches up to him with the appearance of his old friend. Dyne was a kind and loyal man, but a traumatic head injury and the loss of his wife turned him into a murderous criminal. Now, Barret must beat Dyne in FF7 Rebirth to force him to stop and listen.

Beating Dyne in FF7 Rebirth can be challenging since you can only use Barret during this boss fight. Besides avoiding his bullets, you can exploit his elemental weakness to deal more damage.

  • Weakness: Fire
  • Lesser Resistance: None
  • Greater Resistances: None
  • Absorbed Elements: None
  • Immunities:
    • Proportional Damage
    • Slow
    • Silence
    • Stone
    • Petrify
    • Morphable Items

Dyne will get pressured when he gets hurt by powerful abilities in FF7 Rebirth. You should use Fire spells or skills to get extra damage from your attacks. Unlocking the Fire Impulse skill is a great idea so you can save your MP for healing.

During most of this FF7 Rebirth boss fight, Dyne will use his gun to rain you with bullets. You can either block his attacks or use various rocks as cover. Be warned that he can also destroy your cover with his powerful abilities, such as Repentance.

Watch out for Paralyzing Shots since he will follow it up with Point Blank skill. Dyne will get close to Barret and shoot him straight to the gut, dealing massive damage. The man will also throw several Blast Mines at the arena, and they will explode if you get too close.

In the second phase, Dyne will gather scrap metals to his gun arm and use them as a blunt weapon. Target this new body part to quickly stagger the boss, but keep your distance because he has several new unblockable moves.

For example, Phantom Ray is a laser attack from the new metal limb. The best way to dodge this move in FF7 Rebirth is by rolling sideways until Dyne stops attacking. Another annoying move is Hidden Barb, where the man plunges his metal arm into the ground and attacks you from below. He will attempt to hit you three times, but you can evade this attack by rolling away from the moving dust.

You should bring Ifrit or Phoenix to this boss fight because they can deal Fire damage. I personally prefer Phoenix because this Summon also has support skills that can be useful when you are fighting alone.

Here are some Materia that you may equip to beat Dyne in FF7 Rebirth:

  • Healing
  • Fire
  • Steadfast Block
  • Precision Defense Focus
  • Item Economizer
