The Witcher 3: How to Beat Eredin
You’ve finally completed the story of The Witcher 3, but unfortunately, you aren’t done yet. Now you have to face off against the king of the Wild Hunt in an epic 1 v. 1 battle. This will be a difficult battle, but you’ve already come this far; there’s no point in turning around now.
When you head into battle, there are a few key things you will need to keep in mind:
- Eredin is great with a Sword—Don’t underestimate him
- Eredin’s sword is magical, and he will block Geralt’s attacks
- Eredin will regularly teleport behind Geralt in order to fight more effectively
- When Eredin attacks, he also grants himself Ice Armor, making it harder to take him down
- At the beginning of the fight, Eredin will rely on his sword, but in the second phase, he will primarily use magic
- Igni Sign magic is your friend when it comes to Eredin’s armor
Below, I will walk you through the steps you’ll need to take in order to beat Eredin in The Witcher 3.
- Eredin will begin the battle by taunting Geralt
- At this point, equip Swallow, Tawny Oil, Blizzard, and Full Moon Potions
- Once you begin fighting, Eredin will block the majority of your attacks, so don’t let that surprise you
- When Eredin teleports behind you, the best course of action is to dodge away from the damage he can deal to you when you are vulnerable and facing away from him.
- Be sure to parry as many of Eredin’s attacks, and when that isn’t possible dodge.
- Whenever Eredin leaves himself vulnerable, use fast attacks that can deal damage before the window of opportunity closes.
- Heavy attacks may take too long to land, and you will miss the opportunity to deal any damage to Eredin.
- Once you’ve dropped Eredin’s health down by a quarter, he will teleport you and himself to a different location.
- When this happens, Eredin will start using different attacks on Geralt, starting with a shockwave attack.
- When Eredin fires shockwaves at Geralt, he will put distance between the two of them and fire one, then 3, then 5
- There will be enough time between each wave of shockwaves that you can dodge around Eredin to avoid getting hit by all of them and land a few attacks on him.
- After the Shockwave attack, Eredin will attack Geralt with meteors
- These are fairly easy to avoid
- Watch out for the glowing red spots on the ground and avoid them, all the while moving closer to Eredin so that his meteors can damage him instead of Geralt
- From here, plant attacks as often as you can until you you’ve depleted Eredin’s health entirely
