This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

Protorelic is a World Intel where you can gather fragments of an ancient artifact for Chaldey. Each region contains one piece of Protorelic, and you generally have to complete some challenges to get one. In Cosmo Canyon, you can play the Gears and Gambits mini-game, where you deploy small robots to beat a King Flan within the time limit. To finally obtain Cosmo Canyon Protorelic, you must beat Gears and Gambits 4, the most challenging stage in FF7 Rebirth.

The location of Gears and Gambits 4 in FF7 Rebirth can be accessed after completing the third Protorelic Intel. To reach this area, use Gliding Range no. 21 – 78 m on the north side of Gears and Gambits 3.

Afterward, you need to take the elevator to reach the ruin above the cliff. Several groups of monsters will get in your way, and you must defeat them to move forward.

Gears and Gambits 4 introduces new abilities that you can use to beat King Flan. Unlike regular skills, you can only activate these abilities after achieving specific requirements. Here are my Robochad settings recommendations:

  • T1 Robot
    • Self – Haste Field – Survived 30 Seconds
    • Elemental Weakness Priority – Blizzard Shot
    • Foe – Shock – Survived 30 Seconds
  • T2 Robot
    • Self – Nullelemental Field – Survived 30 Seconds
    • Elemental Weakness Priority – Fire Shot
    • Foe – Gravity Shot
  • T3 Robot
    • Self – Augmentation – Survived 30 Seconds
    • Elemental Weakness Priority – Thunder Shot
    • Foe – Missiles

You can also add Self: Modify HP & Cost to any of the Robots. However, I recommend avoiding HP+300 since you don’t want to increase the Cost of deploying a Robot.

During my playthrough, I failed to beat this stage several times because I got too excited when adding buffs to my Robots. While these support spells can boost your units, they will also raise deployment Costs.

The Flan King will send numerous monsters to attack your Portals, and you need a ton of Robots to hold them off. I found that spamming more units with no healing abilities was much more effective than giving them Cure or Bravery.

Also, don’t forget to use Asses by pressing the Square button. The Gears and Gambits 4 Flan King will change its weakness twice during the battle in FF7 Rebirth. You can check what it will do next and its elemental weakness via the Asses screen.
