The world in Grounded is as beautiful as it is dangerous. All bugs have different abilities and resistances, so you’ll have to adjust your build for each new battle, especially when it comes to bosses. Speaking of bosses, Grounded has one powerful enemy called the Infected Broodmother. She is undoubtedly one of the most dangerous creatures in the game. And if you want to get loot from her, you’ll have to come prepared.
Grounded Infected Broodmother Guide
(Updated on August 9, 2024 – updated links and formatting)
Luckily, you won’t encounter the Infected Broodmother boss in the early stages of Grounded and will be able to craft the appropriate gear. Moreover, players need to fulfill several conditions to summon this boss.
First, you need to unlock her lair. To do so you need to seal the Haze Canister with a Gum Nugget. Players will then be able to find the entrance to the Infected Broodmother’s lair near the garden lamp in the Haze area.
Your second step is to prepare a special item called Moldy Hoagie. Players can get its recipe by finding moldy notes in the Mysterious Lab. Then, all you have to do is cook it in Oven and take it to the lair to summon the Infected Broodmother in Grounded:
- Broodmother Fang – 2
- Wasp Queen Head – 1
- Mantis Head – 1
- Toenail – 3
How To Defeat Infected Broodmother
Now that you know how to find and summon Infected Broodmother in Grounded, you need to choose the right gear. Let’s start with the fact that this boss has resistance and immunities to many types of damage and effects:
- Immune to Venom, Gas Hazard, and Explosive Damage
- Resistant to Salty, Spicy, Bleed and Poison.
Therefore, the best weapon for beating the Infected Broodmother would be the Toenail Scimitar or Widow Dagger, since they deal Fresh damage. As for armor, we recommend the Roly Poly Armor set. It’s also important to note that you shouldn’t use anything with an Explosive type, as it will heal the boss.
First Phase
At first, the Infected Broodmother will attack you in the same way as the Hedge Broodmother, namely using several slashing bite attacks and a three-bite combo. This phase will remain active until you reduce her health to zero.
Second Phase
Now, the boss will become even stronger. She will restore health, gain multiple buffs, and change previous attacks to attacks with jumps and dodges. Also, after some of them, such as the Scream and Strange Spore attacks, the explosion will restore the health of Infected Broodmother in Grounded. Therefore, you need to start dealing as much damage as possible from this phase. We recommend that you block all attacks except dodge attacks. This phase will also last until you reduce all the boss’s health.
Third Phase
Infected Broodmother will restore her health, increase bonuses from buffs, and become faster. In addition, she will now shoot an explosive spore at players, summon Infected Gnats, and change the speed of combo attacks randomly. Therefore, you should focus on dealing damage and blocking all the attacks you can.
Infected Broodmother Drops
By defeating the Infected Broodmother in Grounded, you can get quite a lot of useful resources. However, what she drops is random, so you’ll likely have to repeat this battle several times to get each item:
- Infected Chunk
- Infected Fang
- Infected Broodmother Trinket
- Infected Venom
That’s all you need to know about how to beat Infected Broodmother in Grounded. These are by far some of the most challenging bosses in the game, so prepare yourself thoroughly before the battle. In the meantime, why not take a gander at our guide on how to get Grub Hide in Grounded.
