JP is an interesting new character and one of the adversaries you can learn to beat in Street Fighter 6. He is a tough opponent to beat thanks to his incredibly long-range abilities. JP can deal an immense amount of damage with his cane. His hidden hand can create portals that he can use to teleport or summon spikes and specters. Players need a plan and know how to deal with the character before jumping in the ring with him. Here’s a guide to help beat JP in Street Fighter 6.

Before we begin to analyze the fight and strategies, it is best to pick an opponent who inherently counters JP in Street Fighter 6.

  • Luke: Having the ability to close down distances, Luke has a good advantage against JP. He also offers hard punches, projectile attacks, and Super Art to be one of the ideal candidates.
  • Cammy: The ability to land a barrage of attacks at close range makes Cammy a good counter. She is weak against most attacks, but timing the offensive moves correctly can win you the match.
  • Ken: A solid fighter with hefty attacks and special moves like Hadoken and Shoyureppa. Ken is well suited to defeat JP if played correctly.
  • Ryu: A well-balanced character who has got everything it takes to defeat an enemy like JP. Ryu can keep the pressure on and land heavy punches.
  • Guile: Extremely defensive, but the right match against our antagonist here. Guile can block long-range attacks and counter well at close range.

How to Defeat JP in Street Fighter 6

JP players will focus on attacking and taking control from the start. The long-range attacks and surprise teleports will take you by surprise. However, to beat the enemy you need to control the tempo of the game. Keep in mind that you can’t give space to JP and keep on attacking with tactical blocks. The most important thing is to stay at JP’s face no matter what. Get close and don’t let the opponent create any space. You can use the Drive mechanics like the Drive Rush to get close to him whenever he tries to make some space between the two.

If you give JP a chance to breathe, he won’t let you win. Take every chance you get to close in and launch a barrage of fatal blows. You don’t want to repeat moves too much to keep the enemy guessing your next move.

Street Fighter 6 is available on PS5, PS4, PC, and Xbox Series X|S.
