This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

A wayward Illithid has somehow made its way to the planet of Gaia. Luckily, you don’t have to deal with a whole colony and simply have to kill a lone Mindflayer. Don’t let your guard down, though, because this optional mini-boss is still very dangerous and does not have any elemental weakness. The good news is that you can get special crafting material by beating the Mindflayer in FF7 Rebirth.

You can challenge the Mindflayer after discovering all the Lifesprings in the Junon region. Afterward, Chadley will mark the Classified Intel icon on the southeast side of the map.

The Mindflayer is a Level 26 enemy in FF7 Rebirth, and it has no obvious weakness you can exploit. Here are the boss’ attributes:

  • Weakness: None
  • Lesser Resistance:
    • Magic
    • Berserk
    • Deprotect
    • Deshell
    • Debrave
    • Defaith

You must use Synergy Skills and Abilities to pressure and stagger the Mindflayer in FF7 Rebirth. Just hold the R1 button and select the Synergy Skill you want to use.

I recommend using physical attacks since the monster has some resistance to magic. Casting Haste on your team is also a good idea so you can issue more commands to your teammates. This way, you can quickly build up their Synergy Meters.

Here is the best team composition to beat the Mindflayer in FF7 Rebirth:

  • Cloud – Main DPS
  • Tifa – Sub DPS
  • Barret – Support/Healer

The most dangerous move that you must avoid is called Psychotic Break. The Mindflayer will unleash an AoE attack that can deal 9999 damage. You can use nearby large rocks as cover to avoid getting hurt.

Beating the Mindflayer in FF7 Rebirth will grant you a Mindflayer Crown. You can use this material to craft the Psychic’s Charm. This gear can increase a character’s max HP and magic power by 5 percent and make them immune to Silence.
