As you progress through Baldur’s Gate 3, players will have to defeat many story and side bosses, but the battle with Raphael is one of the most difficult and requires some preparation. By making a few bad choices or not meeting the prerequisites, you doom yourself and your group to certain death. This boss has 666 HP and many minions. In addition, bad dice rolls can exacerbate an already difficult situation. But we’re here to help you and tell you how to beat Raphael in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Baldur’s Gate 3: Preparing To Fight Raphael
Although you will encounter Raphael several times as you progress, you can fight him later in the story. To challenge this boss, you must visit the House of Hope and find Raphael in one of the rooms. The cunning Cambion hides in the human body and will offer to solve your problems in exchange for your soul. But accepting this offer promises only terrible consequences and death. So all you have to do is challenge him and pray to all the good luck gods for great dice rolls.
Speaking of prerequisites, they are optional, but we strongly recommend that you replay part of the story to achieve these results:
- First, free Hope before reaching the boss.
- Second, convince Yurgir to fight against Raphael.
By completing these requirements, you will gain valuable allies and reduce the number of Raphael’s minions. It will make your fight easier, so save and replay those story moments to a satisfying dice score.
Tips To Beat Raphael
As for the fight with Raphael, you must accept that it will be a difficult battle regardless of preparation. In addition to Raphael’s huge health indicator, his other characteristics are also on top, and his minions make it hard to focus on the battle. But we have some tips to beat Raphael in Baldur’s Gate 3 much faster:
- Although you will have to fight different enemies during the battle with Raphael, focus your attacks at the beginning of the fight on four columns in the corners. Destroying all columns will significantly weaken Raphael and reduce the difficulty of the entire battle.
- Also, try to use characters like mages or monks in the battle. Some of Raphael’s minions disarm your team, so heroes relying on melee damage or magic will be much more effective.
- We advise you to use any available ways to summon as many minions as possible before and during the boss fight. This way, you spread the enemy damage between your minions. And thanks to these additional targets, you can get time to destroy the columns and save your health.
- Getting any sources of health regeneration or boosting your defenses is a good decision. Minion attacks aren’t as deadly, but if you get hit by Raphael, you’ll want to get your health back as soon as possible.
- Also, Raphael often casts AOE attacks, so spread your group around the room as far apart as possible.
- If you have a Bard, Sorcerer, Warlock, or Wizard on your team, you can rely on a level 5 Hold Monster spell. If Raphael fails the Saving Throw of Wisdom, he will be paralyzed. In addition, any attacks within 3 meters deal critical damage to him.
That’s all you need to know about how to beat Raphael in Baldur’s Gate 3. Of course, this is far from an easy battle, so it will probably take a few tries. But once you win, you will receive the mighty Helldusk Armor.
