This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

With the arrival of Chapter 5 in Fortnite, the game’s map has expanded immensely, and there have been changes in graphics. At the same time, new assets and mechanics have been added to the game. Of course, all of this affects the FPS values we receive in the game. Especially if you have a low-end system, it is not possible to play this season without getting FPS drops, but luckily, we are here, and we will save you from this situation. To boost your FPS in Fortnite Chapter 5, you’ll need to adjust a few Windows settings in addition to the game settings.

If you have a low- or mid-end system, we do not recommend using DirectX 12. The reason for this is that while it provides very good performance for high-end systems, on the contrary, it offers worse performance on low-powered systems. So you have to either use Performance Mode or choose DirectX 11.

Our recommendation is to try both and choose according to Graphics/Performance. This guide will help you get the highest FPS possible in Fortnite and make it easier to see enemies better than in high-game settings.

Finally, we would like to drop a crucial note. If you plan to play the game in Performance Mode, we recommend that you first switch Rendering Mode to DirectX 11 and apply the DirectX 11 settings below.

You can then switch back to Performance Mode and adjust the settings for Performance Mode. This is because when you put the game in Performance Mode, you won’t see some of the settings that are in DirectX 11, but the settings that remain in DirectX 11 will affect your game.

Windows Settings

Your Windows Settings are just as important as your game settings for good FPS in Fortnite, so don’t skip the steps below.

  1. Press the Windows key and search for Display Settings.
  2. If you don’t see Fortnite in the apps section, add it from the Browse option.
  3. Then click on Fortnite and select the High-Performance option.
  4. If you are using an NVIDIA graphics card, go to the NVIDIA Control Panel and switch “Adjust image settings with preview” to Performance mode.

These changes will drastically increase your FPS in Fortnite Chapter 5.
