In DayZ, knowing how to build a gate is extremely important. Gates allow you can make a more functional base that only you can access. As such, you can stash as much loot as you want in this area, and when you die, you can easily gear up again.

Here are all the materials you need to build a Gate to your base in DayZ:

  • Shovel
  • Axe
  • Hacksaw
  • Hammer
  • Pliers
  • Planks
  • Nails
  • Rope
  • Wire
  • 4-Dial Combination Lock

First, you need to make a Fence Kit which requires a rope to craft. If you don’t have a Rope, you can make it by combining 12 Rags. Then you need a Stick, which you can get by breaking a tree and turning Firewood into a Stick. After that, craft the Fence Kit by combining the Sticks and Rope.

Then place this Fence Kit wherever you want to build a Gate in DayZ. Then add 2 Logs on top of the Fence Kit. Afterward, pick up your Shovel and select the Build Base option. Then take your Planks and Attach them to the Gate of your base in DayZ.

Pick up the Hammer and select Build Lower Frame after you Attach Nails to the Gate. Then follow the same steps again and select Build Upper Frame. Get more Planks and choose Build Upper Wooden Wall for both the top and bottom. Thus, the entire Gate will be formed.

Take the Pliers and click on Build Gate after you Attach the Metal Wire to the Gate in DayZ. Now that your Gate is fully operational.

Finally, add your 4-Dial Combination Lock item to the Attachments section of the Gate. This way, other players who don’t know your password won’t be able to open the Gate you build in DayZ.
