Magnemite Evolution Family in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information.

Magnemite is an Electric- and Steel-type Pokémon Scarlet and Violet that evolves into Magneton and Magnezone, respectively, via leveling and a specific evolutionary item. Due to Magnezone’s exceptionally high Special Attack IV, Magnemite’s third and final evolution is one of the best Electric-type pocket monsters players can have for their endgame and even postgame combat roster. However, Trainers must always be sure to avoid matching up any members of the Magnemite family with Ground-, Fire-, and Fighting-type opponents. Conversely, Magnemite, Magneton, and Magnezone are extremely effective when battling against Water-type enemies, such as Gyarados, Vaporeon, or Slowking.

Finding Magnemite in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Magnemite Wild Encounter and Map Location in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

To find Magnemite in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Trainers must search on the east side of the Paldea map, specifically within Areas Two and Three of the East Province. For reference, these are the zones that exist between the windmill settlement of Artazon and the coastal city of Levincia.

Sources at Game8 state that Magnemite typically appears in the grassy fields of Areas Two and Three of the East Province in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. This little Electric- and Steel-type Magnet Pokémon can appear during the day or night. Its in-game Habitat Description mentions that it flies high in the sky during a rainstorm, but this information should not affect how often Trainers are able to encounter this pocket monster during normal weather. As noted above, Magnemite is weak to Fire-, Ground-, and Fighting-type Moves, which can be used to weaken the magnetic creature for a successful capture.

After Trainers have caught Magnemite in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, they can proceed to evolve it into Magneton by advancing it to Level 30. This process can be easily performed by feeding EXP Candy and Rare Candy to the Magnet Pokémon. After evolving into Magneton, the pocket monster can further evolve into Magnezone once given an evolution item called the Thunder Stone. There are several methods of acquiring this electrical stone, according to Game8:

Method No. How to Obtain
1
  • Registering 30 Pokémon Entries in the Paldean Dex
2
  • Available for purchase at all three Delibird Presents Branches for ₽3,000 each.
  • Three Gym Badges must be obtained before the Thunder Stone becomes available.
3
  • Participating in the RNG-based auctions of Porto Marinada
4
  • Can be found in the lighthouse in Area One of the West Province

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are available on the Nintendo Switch.
