Cufant is a Steel-type Copperderm Pokémon from Generation VIII that Trainers can catch and evolve into Copperajah in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Cufant has one normal Ability and a Hidden Ability: Sheer Force and Heavy Metal. Sheer Force Moves that can inflict additional effects will deal 30% more damage at the cost of the additional effects being nullified. On the other hand, Heavy Metal doubles Cufant’s weight, which can be useful with Moves or strategies that utilize the Copperderm Pokémon’s weight. Additionally, catching a Wild Cufant can yield Cufant Tarnish, a TM Material for crafting TM 099 Iron Head and TM 121 Heavy Slam.
Catching & Evolving Cufant in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet
Cufant’s habitat is the entirety of Area Three of the East Province in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, which makes up the dry badlands north and northwest of the city of Levincia. Thanks to the Steel-type Copperderm Pokémon’s bright orange and green colors on its skin, this pocket monster is relatively easy to spot while exploring the wilderness of Area Three.

A choice spot to look for Cufant would be the Zapapico East Pokécenter, as YouTuber GameplayArchive was able to find a Cufant right outside the settlement in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. If Trainers need to weaken Cufant before catching it, remember that, as a Steel-type pocket monster, Copperderm Pokémon is weak to Fighting-, Fire-, and Ground-type Moves. Therefore, ideal counters would be Skeledirge, Camerupt, or Pawmot. The next step after catching Cufant is to evolve it into Copperajah.
Cufant does not require any evolution items to be evolved in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Instead, all players need to do is advance the pocket monster’s Level to 34, after which the evolution will occur automatically. The leveling process should not be too tedious, as Wild Cufants generally appear in Paldea around Level 26. Making the eight-level jump to 34 can be done with relative ease, especially if players have a large stockpile of EXP Candy earned from Tera Raids in Scarlet and Violet. Copperajah is one of the best Steel-type pocket monsters available, thanks to its high base HP and Atk IVs, making it a powerful combatant against Fairy-, Rock-, and Ice-type opponents.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are available on the Nintendo Switch.
