With the release of The Sims 4: Seasons, we can finally change the weather within the game, but many players are wondering how to do it. The Seasons expansion pack adds different types of weather, seasons, new holidays, and even new activities. You can either mess with the weather settings within the game or play through the game and wait for the weather to change by itself! Keep reading to learn how to change the weather in The Sims 4.

Changing the weather through the settings is relatively easy! Follow the steps below:

  • Navigate to Settings, shown as three dots at the top right-hand corner of the screen
  • Click on Game Options
  • Select Environment

In the Environment Settings menu, you can change different aspects of the weather, like rain or thunderstorms, and also change the length of each season.

How To Change the Weather with Gameplay in The Sims 4

There is only one surefire way to change the weather in The Sims 4 through your gameplay. First, you must get Dr. June’s Weather Control Device in Build Mode. Once it is placed on your lot, you can adjust the game’s weather effects. You can find the following interaction options:

  • Thunderstorm
  • Snow
  • Rain
  • Hot
  • Clear Skies
  • Blizzard
  • Heatwave
  • Cold

While this may seem like a great idea, you should be careful when using Dr. June’s Weather Control Device to change the weather in The Sims 4. There is a chance that your Sims can be electrocuted and become dazed, or even for the interaction to fail altogether. If this happens, you could risk dying and should visit the doctor immediately.

However, the interaction may be successful. That said whether you change the weather or not, the risk is still very real that it could turn bad quickly.

Additionally, you may decide to use cheats to change the weather, but it’s much more fun to play through the seasons and experience the game as it’s meant to be played. To use cheats, simply press CTRL + Shift + C or CMD + Shift + C to open the command console so that you can use cheats.

Jordan is an experienced fantasy writer who spends hours behind her laptop, and lost in the pages of a book. She strives to be a successful gaming blogger, and has no complaint about the hours of game time she used to increase her knowledge of all things “geek”. She primarily writes gaming articles and fantasy novels. Ark: Survival Evolved is a favorite, along with Diablo 3, Warframe and Minecraft lately, though you can’t forget the good old Magic the Gathering card game! Writing about games truly gives her joy as it gives her another perspective to look at games from, a reason to really look into the mechanics of the game.
