Chapter 5 is the final section of the Frostpunk 2 campaign. Regardless of who you side with, one of the factions will start a rebellion. At the start of this chapter, you have three paths that you can take: Banishment, Reconciliation, or Enforcing Order. If you decide to banish the rebels, you will need to send them to Windward Moor. Numerous riots will also occur in your base, so you need to handle these issues before you get deposed.
Frostpunk 2 Chapter 5 Walkthrough
During my Frostpunk 2 playthrough, I decided to side with the Stalwarts and stay in New London, so I have to deal with the Pilgrims in Chapter 5. Out of the three choices, I opted to banish the Pilgrims to the Windward Moor. At this point, you have two routes.
- Fix and prepare Windward Moor.
- Banish the Pilgrims immediately.
Obviously, if you don’t prepare the colony, the Pilgrims will refuse to go. This will require you to use guards to force them to leave. Since I felt a bit bad, I prepared Windward Moor properly to ensure these people had a high chance of survival.
How To End the Civil War & Reduce Tension in Chapter 5
You will quickly notice that your Districts are on fire. Luckily, this is not a real flame but only a visual look at how bad things are. Even if you decide to banish the rebelling group, the Pilgrims and the Stalwarts are still going to fight. Numerous riots will break out, and you have to stop them before they break something.
To stop the riot in Chapter 5, you need to click the District with the red symbol. It will then show you several community actions that you can take. Here are the details:
- Quell the Fighting
- Speed Victory – End the conflict swiftly, even if it costs innocent lives.
- Enforce Peace – Slowly end the conflict to avoid deaths.
- Protect
- Protect District – Prevent wear effect on structures.
- Protect People – Break up fights to stop casualties.
There are no right answers here, and you can choose based on your situation. Once things calm down a bit, you can turn your attention to Windward Moor.
How To Prepare Windward Moor for the Banishment
Unlike New London, Windward Moor is not a welcoming place. This area is so cold due to the wind, and you have to prepare a ton of things to ensure the new colony can survive. First, you need to start the generator by building Extraction Districts on the Coal deposits.
I also suggest building Food and Housing Districts in Chapter 5. However, the most important upgrade you need to make the Windshield. You can access this building using the community action at the central district. To build this structure, you need to have at least 30,000 Materials in the Windward Moor’s Stockpile Hub.
Once you are done, you can transfer the ownership to the banished group. Just click the Windward Moor icon on the top right and select the hand icon. After you give this colony to the rebels, you won’t be able to build anything, so you can leave this area permanently.
How To Round Up the Violent Faction
Although you have transferred the ownership, the banishment route in Chapter 5 isn’t done until you have quelled all the rebellion. You need to return your attention to New London, where you have to round up the violent faction.
There will be a round-up community action in the Districts suffering from riots. Note that you will need prisons to keep them locked, but you can also opt for Outdoor Detention if you don’t have space.
Once every rebel has been caught, you can decide their fates by clicking the profile on the bottom right. There will be three options available in Chapter 5:
- Banish them to Windward Moor
- Force them to see reason
- Enlist to Steward’s Militia
Regardless of your decision, this marks the end of Frostpunk 2‘s Chapter 5. You will get a final scene that shows the fates of the people under your rule. Frankly, the banishment route doesn’t offer much of a happy ending.
