Physics enthusiasts will undoubtedly enjoy solving the puzzle challenge of Jonsau Shrine in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom — “Deep Force.” This particular Shrine has you use your Ultrahand to utilize the “pop-up” effect of buoyant objects, in this case, a ball. Have you ever held an air-filled beach ball underwater at a pool, only to launch skywards after letting go? This same physics-related concept is what you must employ to complete Jonsau Shrine and acquire its Light of Blessing.

Some might misspell this Shrine’s name by calling it the “Jonah Shrine,” “Joshua Shrine,” or “Jonas Shrine” in Tears of the Kingdom. However, the correct name is Jonsau Shrine, and its location is near the center of Lanayru Wetlands. Specifically, it sits on the southern hills of Mercay Island, the largest isle of the region.

The Jonsau Shrine walkthrough of “Deep Force” in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is split into three puzzles. They all involve the same buoyancy-based effect of dense water launching a less dense object from its surface. In the first chamber, you’ll need to utilize this physics effect to propel a ball onto an upside-down lock mechanism hanging from the ceiling.

  1. Use your Ultrahand ability to grab the yellow ball floating on the water.
  2. Position the ball beneath the target-shaped device above.
  3. Lower the ball into the water and let go.

The ball should fly upward, stick to the upside-down platform, and unlock the door to the next chamber.

In this second area, you’ll find the Zelda: TotK Jonsau Shrine Treasure Chest in “Deep Force.” There are two ways to fish the chest out of the water:

  1. Attach the ball from the first room on the chest and use the pop-up effect to bring it to the surface.
  2. Alternatively, you can carefully approach the water and pull the chest out using the Ultrahand.

However, be mindful of the hostile Construct that will attempt to ambush you around the corner.

After looting the chest, the second puzzle of the Jonsau Shrine in TotK involves an identical solution to the first. Using the yellow plank or the ball from earlier, you can use the density of the water to launch either object upward. Regardless of the item you use, the door will open.

The final puzzle of “Deep Force” in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will likely stump many players. The idea is the same as before; however, this time, you’re attempting to dislodge a wooden board on the platform above.

  1. Position the ball at the front center of the slender pillar.
  2. Submerge the ball and release, making sure the ball’s upward trajectory knocks off the wooden plank above.

It might take several attempts, but once the plank has been removed, a basket will drop onto the water’s surface. Have Link stand in the basket and use the ball for a final time to launch yourself to the Shrine’s altar. Collect your Light of Blessing to complete the Shrine.

If you have completed the Gutanbac Shrine, you will have access to the Ascend ability for your Ultrahand. Accordingly, you can skip the third puzzle using Ascend with the yellow plank from the second puzzle in Jonsau Shrine in Tears of the Kingdom.
