Are you looking to complete The Flute Player’s Plan in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom? One of the many side adventures available to players, this relatively short quest will see players collecting fireflies to help a flutist impress a cheerful young girl at Highland Stable. You can pick up this quest at any time, but it’s required to complete the larger quest “Serenade to Kaysa” and unlock the nearby Great Fairy Fountain. Given that the Great Fairy Fountains can be used to upgrade Link’s armor, it’s worth completing the quest and unlocking the new fountain. If you’re not sure how to complete “The Flute Player’s Plan” in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, then this guide will explain how.
How to Complete The Flute Player’s Plan in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
To pick up “The Flute Player’s Plan,” first head to Outskirt Stable, southwest of Lookout Landing. After arriving, be sure to grab the Tsutsu-um Shrine as a fast travel point (if you haven’t already) and find the Stable Trotters, a band of musicians near a stage. Speak to the conductor Mastro, and he’ll explain that the group’s flute player, Pyper, has gone missing without a trace. Talk to the stablehands, and one will mention that Pyper was close to their little sister, Haite, and may have accompanied her to Highland Stable in the southeast.
It’s possible to reach Highland Stable by taking the road east and then south from Outskirt Stable. The most direct route crosses over Lake Hylia, but we recommend going around the lake instead to avoid the Flame Gleeok on the bridge. On the road nearby Highland Stable, you’ll find a young girl, Haite, who’s mad with Pyper and says he’s vanished into a tree.
You’ll be able to find Pyper up a tree just outside Highland Stable even without running into Haite first, so if you don’t find her, don’t worry. Once you find Pyper, talk to him. He’ll explain that he’s trying to apologize to Haite by making the tree glow like something from a story she likes. In order to complete his plan, Pyper will explain that he needs ten Sunset Fireflies. Offer to collect them for him, and you’ll be given the quest “The Flute Player’s Plan.”
How to Catch Sunset Fireflies in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Thankfully, Sunset Fireflies aren’t too hard to catch in Tears of the Kingdom. You’ll need to wait until night for them to show up, but the fireflies can usually be found in central and southern Hyrule forests. Pagos Woods, just north of Highland Stable, is swarming with Sunset Fireflies, making this quest a little easier if you’re not afraid of running into a Bokoblin or Moblin. In order to catch Sunset Fireflies, you’ll need to crouch down and sneak up on them before they can fly away.
If you’re not up to the task of collecting the fireflies manually, you can also track down Eryck, a traveling merchant who sells 5 fireflies for 10 rupees. Whatever method you use, once you have at least ten Sunset Fireflies, return to Pyper in his tree. Hand over the fireflies, and Pyper will ask you to bring Haite to the tree at night. Wait for a clear night and talk to Haite, who can be found sitting in the middle of Highland Stable. Lead Haite over to Pyper’s tree for a dazzling light show, and Haite will forgive Pyper. With his plan completed, Pyper will return to the Stable Trotters, and “The Flute Player’s Plan” will be marked at complete.
