Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild: How to Complete the Magnesis Trial
The first person you come across in the game is a mysterious old man, who you soon find out has a paraglider that can make travel much easier for you. He offers to give you the paraglider, but for a price. In order to get it, you have to complete the Magnesis Trial, among a few others.
First, you’ll have to make your way to the Oman Au Shrine, which is just behind a river. Swim your way across the river and place your Sheikah Slate on the pedestal in front of it in order to gain access to the Shrine.
Once you’re inside, you’ll get a short message from the creator of the Trial. The message will read:
“To you who sets foot in this shrine… I am Oman Au. In the name of the Goddess Hylia, I offer you this trial.”

Look around for another pedestal in which you can place your Sheikah Slate.
When you do, a message will appear stating that you’ve unlocked Magnesis, which allows you to manipulate metal objects. Keep this in mind, as you will need to use it in order to complete the trial.
Using the L button, active Magnesis and move your cursor around until the metal plates on the floor in front of the gate turn yellow. This means that you are able to pick them up and move them.
Using the A button, lift the two large metal plates and move each of them to the side, revealing a path beneath the gate that leads you farther into the Oman Au Shrine.
When you arrive in the next area of the shrine, you will find a single block near the back of the room and a wall of stone blocks with one metal block in the center of it.
Using your Magnesis ability, pick up the block in the back of the room and set it in front of the metal block in the wall. Now, use Magnesis one more time to pull the metal block from the middle of the wall to create stairs for you to climb up.
As soon as you head past the wall, you will notice an enemy that is wasting no time in attacking you. Using R2, attack the enemy with your bow in order to free up the area so you can safely jump down and proceed farther throughout the shrine.
Be sure to collect the Ancient Spring that drops from the fallen enemy on your way through.
As you head down the corridor, you should notice that there is a large metal plate creating a bridge over a gap in the floor. Cross over the plate, then turn back around to look at the plate you just crossed over. Active your Magnesis in order to pick up the plate and move it to the next gap in the floor in the corridor so that you can pass over it.
Follow their corridor until you come across two large doors. Using Magnesis the same way you have been for the rest of the trial, pull the large metal doors open so that you can make your way further into the room, where you will meet Oman Au, the creator of the trial.
Oman Au will speak to you for a while, then allow you to leave the shrine after giving you a Spirit Orb, where you will speak to the Old Man again.
