Playing Palia, you will have to complete many different quests. Most of them are pretty straightforward, but some can be a little confusing. An example of the latter is Trapped in Time, a secret quest that can be started randomly in Palia. However, players have a choice of how to complete it. And the rewards you can get will depend on this choice.
How To Start the Trapped in Time Quest
The Trapped in Time quest is secret even among other secret quests. Many players may have accidentally activated it while cutting down trees. But not every tree is suitable for this.
So, to start the Trapped in Time quest in Palia, you need to chop down large Heartwood trees until you get an Amber Fossil from one of them. They can be found throughout Bahari Bay. However, if you have just started your adventure, you need to progress to unlock the Fine Ax, otherwise, you will not be able to cut down those large trees.
Once you finally find Amber Fossil, you will start the Trapped in Time quest in Palia. After that, you need to bring this Fossil to Jina to learn more about it. She can usually be found in Mirror Pond Ruins. This way, you will learn that Fossil contains Sunshade Leafhopper, which inhabited Bahari Bay thousands of years ago. Then, you have to decide who to give it to.
Who Should You Give Amber Fossil to in Palia?
During the conversation, Jina will offer you to give Amber Fossil to someone. You have 5 available options to choose from and each of them will reward you with different items.

We recommend you choose Elouisa or Auni as they will give you rare rewards. You will need them to complete Bundles, so you can save a lot of time. But if you need money, then Zeki is what you need.
Giving Amber Fossil to one of the characters you will complete the Trapped in Time quest in Palia and get 5 Renown as a reward. Also, if you choose someone other than Jin, don’t forget to come back and tell her about it. Of course, she won’t be happy, but fortunately, she won’t be offended by you.
