Before becoming one of your most devoted followers in Metaphor: ReFantazio, Heismay will put up quite the fight when you meet him. Wrongfully branded as a criminal, this Eugief hides inside one of the game’s most heart-racing dungeons. Since your party is there to put an end to his supposed criminal schemes, this lovable creature won’t go down without a fight. However, there is one gimmick that will put players in a tough spot. If that’s your case, we’ve prepared a guide to let you finish this fight as quickly as possible.
Giant Sandworm’s Nest Guide
Before we delve into the fight against Heismay, you should know that there’s a small dungeon you must go through, which isn’t as long or hard as others in Metaphor: ReFantazio. After exiting the Sandworm’s Belly, you’ll encounter the Sandworm’s Next, which is where our future companion resides. Inside, there are only two types of enemies, and they are quite easy to beat. Papyros are weak against Piercing attacks, Wind, and Dark magic. If you find a Red Elementa, use Ice magic to bring it down.
While the dungeon is short, you can find the following loot:
- Hero’s Incense x1
- Rotting Bones x3
- Blessed Water x1
- Magla Pill x1
While there isn’t a lot of loot here, it is nice to have a sort of breather after the Giant Sandworm’s Belly dungeon. Since you’ll likely use spells when facing Heismay, we recommend using Hulkenberg’s basic attacks against the enemies here. Also, assuming you arrived during a bad weather day, attacking an enemy’s weakness won’t grant you an extra turn. However, you’ll get more experience when defeating enemies on days with bad weather.
How to Beat Heismay
The only important mechanic of this fight is the one where Heismay summons his shadow clones à la Naruto. Initially, you’ll be missing hits left and right and struggling to spot the real one. Also, since hitting a shadow takes away some of your turn icons, Heismay will be attacking relentlessly. Yet, there’s one way to identify the real Eugief: by looking at the one who has a shadow. That’s practically it. Once you spot the Heismay with a shadow, just attack it with everything you have. However, there are a few tips to end Heismay’s fight quickly in Metaphor: ReFantazio.
- Avoid AoE attacks. Attacking a shadow will dispel it and take away your turn icons.
- Save your heavy-damage Synthesis skills for the real Heismay. Since the fight is short, you can spam Synthesis skills to defeat the Eugief faster.
- Heismay has no weaknesses, so just use whatever skill has the highest damage potential.
- Regarding your party’s composition, you can bring any Archetypes, especially since Heismay doesn’t have any particular weaknesses. But if you want some recommendations on it, this is the formation that worked for us:
- Protagonist: Seeker or Healer (the latter if trying to complete More’s quest).
- Strohl: Warrior or Brawler.
- Hulkenberg: Knight or Magic Knight (the latter will be available if your bond is high enough with Hulkenberg).
If you see Heismay doing a lot of damage to your team, have Hulkenberg take the heat and heal her with your Protagonist; leave the butt-kicking to Strohl. It might take longer, but it is a surefire strategy that will let you defeat this soon-to-be ally. Once you finish the fight, enjoy the cutscenes and wait for the story to play out. Heismay will join your party soon after.
