If you thought the creatures from Chapter 1 were dangerous enough to keep you on the edge of your seat, wait until you reach the game’s second chapter. You’ll find towering enemies almost at every corner in this game, which certainly feels more like a boss rush adventure (not complaining). One of such is the First Prince of Flowing Sands in Black Myth: Wukong. However, instead of waiting for you to arrive at its arena, there are actually two ways to summon it. Here, we’ll tell you how to call it forth and how to give it a proper beating.
How To Summon the First Prince
While exploring the first area of Chapter 2, you’ll encounter the Second Rat Prince and the King of Flowing Sands. These two foes work in tandem during the boss fight, and depending on who you beat first, the outcome will change, thus affecting your encounter with the First Prince of Flowing Sands in Black Myth: Wukong. The outcome will dictate how and when you can summon the First Prince, and here’s what you have to do for each:
- If you defeat the King of Flowing Sands first and then the Second Rat Prince, you’ll obtain the Pungent Flesh Chunk, which you can use to summon the First Prince shortly after the double boss fight.
- If you defeat the Second Rat Prince first, the King will escape into a cave and summon the First Prince instead.
In any of these cases, you must head inside the cave, which is at the left side of the gate you can’t open right now, and either interact with the cliff to summon the First Prince with the item or wait for the cutscene to play and let the King summon his son. Either way, once the First Prince appears, you can begin the fight.
The First Prince of Flowing Sands – Boss Strategy
Contrary to what other people say, this fight isn’t too challenging. The silver lining of this fight is that the First Prince is one of the slowest enemies in Black Myth: Wukong, and that’s already saying much, given how every boss attacks like a Saiyan after drinking three bottles of Mt. Dew. However, the First Prince’s attacks are easy to identify, and you can get a lot of hits in once he does any of his combos. Here is the strategy I used:
- Wait for the Prince to perform any of his normal combos. If you have the talent that lets you continue a combo after dodging, hit, dodge, and repeat until you complete a combo. If not, wait a bit.
- Once the Prince jumps and lands on his back, do a full combo or a fully charged heavy attack. After many attempts, I noticed I couldn’t stagger the boss or make him flinch, which might be normal due to his size. Still, heavy hits will take away a good chunk of his HP bar.
- You’ll notice the Prince will stop and start charging at you; when that happens, position yourself in front of the black metal wall in the arena and have the Prince slam himself into it; this will stun him and let you get a few hits in.
Another tactic you can use is to wait until the boss smashes the wall and use your first transformation, Red Tiles, to do a lot of fire damage. I can’t confirm this, but it seems beast enemies are weak to fire, so this is a great way to defeat the boss fast.

Black Myth: Wukong Starter GuideOnce you beat the First Prince of Flowing Sands in Black Myth: Wukong, you’ll obtain the Arhat Gold Piece and one piece of silk. These might not seem like great rewards at first, but one allows you to enter a secret area, and the other lets you craft certain armor pieces. Either way, this is a fight worth doing.
