This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information.

Iron Nuggets are a Crafting Material inย Animal Crossing: New Horizonsย that islanders will need for assembling high-end tools and various pieces of furniture. This resource is also required for the construction of Nook’s Cranny, a store where players can visit to procure exclusive furniture, tools, or island fruit with Bells. Accordingly, knowing how to get Iron Nuggets is essential for gameplay progression. Players cannot upgrade their tools or unlock access to their island’s pawnbroker until they have enough of the metal resource. Continue reading to learn a technique that will enable players to farm more Iron Nuggets from their island and beyond.ย

Iron Nuggets can be collected from Balloon Presents that randomly appear in the game world, but the primary source of thisย material inย Animal Crossing: New Horizonsย is Ore Rocks. Most players will likely already know that Rocks produce Stone and other materials, but they might not know about a special technique to maximize its nugget output.

According to YouTuberย Manny The Mage, to effectively farm Iron Nuggets from an Ore Rock inย Animal Crossing: New Horizons, players must first use their Shovel to dig three holes behind their position. Whenever the player character strikes a Rock with their Shovel, they will receive a slight knockback, slowing down their mining pace. However, if players dig holes behind their position, they will be able to strike the Rock in quick succession without worrying about being knocked back. This technique allows players to maximize their chances of getting Iron Nuggets to eight, which refers to the voxel spaces surrounding the Rock node.

Once players have unlocked the Airport and have enough Nook Miles to purchase a Ticket, they can visit Deserted Islands via plane. These islands will often have Rocks that can be harvested. Accordingly, players can repeat the same procedure of clearing all the spaces around the node before digging three holes behind their position. They then must stand next to the Rock and spam the dig input to exhaust all resources from the node. There is always a good chance that players will receive multiple Iron Nuggets with this strategy inย Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Animal Crossing: New Horizonsย is available exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.
