A line, a worm, and profit. It’s an ancient formula that helps you whittle away the hours in Palia when you aren’t helping dig Zeki out of his latest hole. Some fish are valuable, others pretty, but all are worth catching and collecting. The trick is knowing which watering holes to visit and when. Knowing the proper bait to string onto your line (or not) doesn’t hurt either. The Stalking Catfish is a decent source of income compared to some less pricy fish, so catch it while you can. Here’s how to find and catch Stalking Catfish in Palia.

(Updated on October 4, 2024 – updated intro, images, links, and format)
To find and catch Stalking Catfish in Palia, you should head to Kilima Village or Bahari Bay and fish the local Ponds. In addition, during the daytime, Stalking Catfish rests in deep water, so you can only catch it during the Evening and at Night. As for the bait, you should use a Glow Worm. Although the Stalking Catfish is a night freshwater inhabitant, it didn’t lose its sight like the Eyeless Minnow. Here are some other top tips to catch this fish:
- Start your fishing trip in Mirror Pond Ruins (northwest Kilima Valley)
- Ripple spots increase your odds of catching a Quality fish
- You can’t get Glow Worms until Level 7
- Once you’ve unlocked Glow Worms, you can farm them or buy them at Einar’s
You can sell a standard Stalking Catfish for 200 Gold, while the Quality version will net you 300 Gold. Like other fish, you can also toss your favorite finned find in a pot to cook up a variety of tasty dishes if you don’t feel like selling it. Alternatively, you can give it to some NPCs to increase your Friendship Level. Apparently, the quickest way to a lonely heart is with a gilled surprise.
