While Genshin Impact version 5.1 doesn’t add any new areas, this update still includes several new stuff, such as another world boss. You may already be aware of it if you are planning to pull for Xilonen. Although the Secret Source Automaton: Configuration Device is marked on the map, this boss is located underground. Some players may have trouble finding this enemy. To reach the boss arena, you will need to find a hidden hole in the ground.
Where To Find Secret Source Automaton: Configuration Device in Genshin Impact
The Secret Source Automaton: Configuration Device world boss is inside an underground cave south of Teticpac Peak. To enter this new area, you must go to the wooden bridge on the island’s edge. Under the long bridge, you will find a hole you can jump into.
Afterward, you can just dash toward the new waypoint and activate it. The boss will be docile until you attack it. Even if you step into the arena, it won’t become aggressive until you start a fight.
How To Beat
The Secret Source Automaton: Configuration Device is not the hardest boss in Genshin Impact, but it still hits quite hard. It will mainly use Electro attack and shoot lasers at you. Here’s what you can expect from this enemy:
- Shoots AoE laser from above.
- Activate twin laser beams with a circular path.
- A charged attack with arena-wide effect.
Out of all its attacks, the final charged attack is the most annoying. You have to stop the Secret Source Automaton from fully charging, or it’ll most likely kill your unit. To do that, you need to destroy the two Accretion Mechanisms. The problem is it’s located above a crystal pillar that you cannot climb.
Now, you may think that it’s easy and you can just use a bow character. Wrong. Powerful shields protect those two Accretion Mechanisms and can only be destroyed with a melee attack. So there are several options you can use:
- Bring Anemo units with aerial move sets (Kazuha or Wanderer)
- Use Natlan character (Kachina, Kinich, Xilonen)
- Just bring Zhongli and use his abilities
Using Natlan characters is the proper method, but Anemo units that can fly can also reach the top of the pillar. Of course, Zhongli is also an option to beat the Secret Source Automaton boss. Our Geo Archon is still going strong despite the meta moving away from spamming a beefy shield.
If you have him, you can place the Geo construct near the pillars and destroy the Accretion Mechanisms. You can also just skip the hassle and tank the charged attack. My Zhongli is a shield bot, so that move didn’t break his barrier.
If you destroy the Accretion Mechanisms, the Secret Source Automaton will become immobilized for a while. You can use this chance to get some free hits. It will depend on your damage output, but the boss will likely use the charged attack two to three times in a regular battle.
