The Abyss is the most substantial and constant threat to the Pyro Nation, and many warriors must train hard to face it. The Tenebrous Papilla is precisely an abyssal boss of Genshin Impact 5.2, which is necessary to get the Ascension Materials for Natlan characters like Chasca. This boss is on the map that was added for the same release version, so players should find its underground location before thinking about challenging it.
Tenebrous Papilla Location in Genshin Impact
It will make things much easier for you if you first unlock the Statue of the Sven in Tezcatepetonco Range, which is very close to “Masters of the Night-Wind.” This way, you can access the Layer Exploration on your Genshin Impact map and see the exact location of Tenebrous Papilla between the Tezcatepetonco Range and Quahuacan Cliff.
- Go to the Statue of the Seven in the Tezcatepetonco Range.
- From there, walk north on the cliff, towards the river.
- Glide down to the fork in the river. You will see the entrance to a cave.
- You will see a Teleport Waypoint on your right when you enter the cave. (Be careful because there is another cave next to the Waypoint, which leads to another passage).
- You will see how the color of the cave will change to purple as you get closer to the sand where the Tenebrous Papilla is.
How to Defeat Tenebrous Papilla
The Tenebrous Papilla is an enemy sent from The Abyss, which can transform into other enemies of Genshin Impact. You will experience how this boss turns into a Ruin Drake: Skywatch, Jadeplume Terrorshroom, Primo Geovishap, Maguu Kenki, and others. The Tenebrous Papilla copies some of the attacks of the enemies it copies, but not their abilities. However, this boss has its Beseech the Dark skill that you should take care of in this way:
- The main threat of this attack is that the boss will create a void underneath itself of the same Abyss element. During this attack, your characters will lose HP while inside the AoE.
- A purple bar will appear under the HP of Tenebrous Papilla in this same state. You must fill this bar with white color; this will only happen when you hit it as elemental attacks.
- To break the defense of this boss faster, you will need to use the Nightsoul Blessing, so remember to take a Natlan character with you.
If you don’t have Natlan characters, or if you don’t have a decent build for Kachina, don’t worry. Carrying characters with Nightsoul’s Blessing does make the combat easier and faster, but it’s not essential. When I first faced this Abyssmal boss, I used a Nahida, Raiden, Kokomi, and Bennett team. I took full advantage of Hyperbloom Reactions, even though my team could have had better artifacts or weapons. The combat took me only a short time, and it was simple, even in World Level 9.
