Like in the previous expansion, Vampire Survivor’s second DLC, Tides of the Foscari, adds quite a handful of new characters to the extremely beloved 2021 indie hit. To unlock some of them, you will have to farm huge numbers of specific enemies. This guide for Vampire Survivors will tell you where to find Rotting Ghouls and how to quickly defeat 6,000 of them to unlock the Rottin’Ghoul Achievement and the namesake character in the Tides of the Foscari DLC.

First, you have to open the Abyss Foscari part of the Lake Foscari map. This can be done by locating the green-colored Seal of the Lake gem in the lake area, the northeastern part of the map. Then you will need Keitha Muort and Millionaire, the evolved version of her Flash Arrow using max-leveled Bracer and Clover, to break the Seal of the Lake.
Afterward, head to the Abyss Foscari in order to break the red-colored Seal of the Abyss somewhere to the southwest of the map. You will have to use Maruto Cuts and Legionnaire. Evolve his Eskizzibur into Legionnaire by leveling up Armor to its max level and searching for a Treasure Chest. Once everything is dealt with, break the seal with Maruto.
More areas of the map will be revealed. Then you will want to head to the southwestern part of Abyss Foscari. Around these parts and mostly during minutes 5 and 6, Rotting Ghouls should start spawning.
When farming mobs, increasing their spawn rate and dishing out strong area-of-effect attacks should be your main priority. For that reason, you should prepare these weapons and items when heading out to the secret room:
- Maxed out Garlic
- Maxed out Song of Mana
- Maxed out King Bible
- Maxed out Charm Powerup
- And the XIII – Wicked Season Arcanas from Skull O’Manic Randomazzo
Although tedious, at the very least, you don’t have to defeat all 6,000 Rotting Ghouls in a single run to unlock the new undead character and its Party Popper weapon. Tracking your progress can be done using the Bestiary and opening for the Rotting Ghouls entry.
