Most of these errors could be sorted out within the gameplay. However, the mods not working error is slightly different since it is associated with your game files. You can fix mods not working in Starfield by fixing errors in your StarfieldCustom.ini file and ensuring that mods are saved in the correct files. Also, below are the steps you need to follow.

  1. Check you have saved the StarfieldCustom.ini file correctly.
  2. Check mods are saved in the correct location.
  3. Enable the Hardlink Deployment

Checking StarfieldCustom.ini File Name

The StarfieldCustom.ini file has to appear the same as mentioned. The lower and uppercase letter has to be the same as shown. Also, ensure it is not saved as a .txt file, and it has to be a read-only file. This is the first thing you must do to fix mods not working in Starfield

Checking Mods are Saved in the Right Folder

The mods have to be saved in the exact game file location. Sometimes, mod files might be stored in a Steam folder, so the game might not register the mod. To fix this, ensure all mod files have been saved in the My Games and Data folders.

Enabling Hardlink Deployment

Launch the Vortex Mod Manager and go to settings. Then select the Deployment Method from the mod. You must enable the Hardlink Deployment and then check whether your mods are working correctly by launching the game.
