I won’t lie, Diablo 4 Season 5’s Infernal Hordes have left me bruised and bloodied. It’s a real test of your build and how far it can go, but if you feel that it has more potential, you’ll need Abyssal Scrolls. Like The Pit and Nightmare Dungeons, Infernal Hordes has tiers in Diablo 4, and Abyssal Scrolls are the key. Come to think of it, Infernal Hordes Compasses are a lot like Nightmare Sigils.
How to Farm Abyssal Scrolls in Diablo 4
Like Nightmare Sigils, Infernal Hordes Compasses vary in tier. If you haven’t picked any up just yet, then perhaps you haven’t completed The Eyes of the Enemy and To the Edge of the Abyss of Season 5. Speak with Locan in Zarbinzet on WT3 (World Tear 3) to complete those quests. Infernal Hordes Compasses drop from these sources:
- Helltides (Doomsayers and Chests of Steel/Mystery)
- Nightmare Dungeons
- The Pit
- Whisper Caches
- Crafting Infernal Compasses via Sigil Powder
And wouldn’t you know it, you can get Abyssal Scrolls from the exact same sources as Infernal Hordes Compasses. Essentially, you’re always working towards your goals no matter what content you participate in. This greatly works in your favor.
So, okay, you have all these game modes, are they all worth doing? What’s the best way? Luckily, there is an efficient way to more or less speed-farm Abyssal Scrolls and Infernal Hordes Compasses at the same time in Diablo 4.
When you jump into Diablo 4 for the day, your goals should go in this order:
- Helltides first. Complete Whisper events, but wait until the Helltides is over to hand them in. Slaughter demons until 10 minutes is left and open as many Chests of Mystery and Steel.
- Collect your Whisper cache.
- Run Nightmare Dungeons. Level up your Glyphs if you haven’t already. Crush any Sigils that are too easy. Use those for crafting more Compasses.
- Push The Pit.
- Infernal Hordes.
By the time you start running Infernal Hordes, you want as many Infernal Hordes Compasses as possible so you can spam the game mode for loot and Abyssal Scrolls.
