If you didn’t know, Gems are important materials in Monster Hunter World, and some belong to a specific group of creatures, such as the Bird Wyvern. Knowing which creatures are part of this species is important because if you want to farm the specific reagent, you must know which hunts to tackle. While this material only drops once you reach High Rank, it’s still a good idea to prepare yourself to take down some of the winged terrors in the New World.
Bird Wyvern Gems Location in Monster Hunter World
While you can find many materials in MHW while exploring, Bird Wyvern Gems are only obtainable by participating in High-Rank hunts with creatures of the aforementioned species. Here are the creatures you’ll find in this category:
- Pukei-Pukei
- Kulu-Ya-Ku
- Tzitzi-Ya-Ku
While you’ll find two of these three creatures early in the game, you must wait until you reach the right story quest and unlock High-Rank assignments. It shouldn’t take much time, but we recommend you arm yourself with a fully upgraded armor set before you tackle any of these monsters.
How To Use Bird Wyvern Gems in MHW
Like many other materials, you must return to the Smithy after obtaining Bird Wyvern Gems in Monster Hunter World and use them to upgrade your equipment. Some trees that need this material are the Kulu-Ya-Ku, Tzitzi-Ya-Ku, and Pukei-Pukei trees for weapons. For armor sets, you’ll need it for the Kulu, Girros, Tzitzi, Barroth, and Pukei trees. Once you have the material, talk to the Smithy and select Upgrade Equipment to begin.
Sadly, Bird Wyvern Gems have a very low drop rate, with the highest being 17% on Kulu-Ya-Ku hunts, meaning sticking to this monster is the best bet. Thankfully, the gameplay loop of these games is so smooth that once you master your favorite weapon, you’ll be taking down or capturing creatures in no time.
