Want to know how to get Chillfin Trout in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom? Traveling through the colorful Tears of the Kingdom locations, you can collect a lot of cooking ingredients, including a lot of fish. From Hearty Salmon in the icy Hebra Mountains lakes to Armored Carp in the hot waters of Lanayru Great Spring, every Hyrule pool is teeming with fish. However, some fish prefer darker habitats, and Chillfin Trout is one of them. So, if you want to cook delicious cooling fish, our guide is here to help you and tell you how to get Chillfin Trout in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom.

Where To Find Chillfin Trout in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

To get Chillfin Trout in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, you must visit the cold cave lakes in the Hebra Mountains. For some reason, Chillfin Trouts hate sunlight, preferring constant twilight and cold. However, there are exceptions to this rule, as Chillfin Trout are also permanent inhabitants of the cave lakes in the Lanayru Great Spring region. The climate of this area is much warmer, but this fish loves it.

It’s also worth noting that you can sometimes find Chillfin Trout in the surface Hyrule waters. But this is more of an exception than the rule. More importantly, you can catch Chillfin Trout in caves outside of their habitat. It is a common occurrence for all the fish in the Hyrule world, but the farther you go, the less likely you are to succeed.

Once you spot at least one Chillfin Trout, you can catch it with your hands. The cave lakes are small, and the Chillfin Trout are slow. However, you can become a poacher and throw Yellow Chuchu Jelly into the water. All fish caught in the range of this item will receive a powerful electric shock and die instantly. But this way, you will get many different cavefish, such as Chillfin Trout and Glowing Cave Fish.

Catching a few Chillfin Trouts, you can eat them raw to restore 1 HP Heart. But it’s much more efficient to cook it to restore more HP and get a temporary Heat Resistant effect. Also, the more Chillfin Trout you put in the pot, the longer or more effective the Heat Resistant effect will be. So catching a lot of Chillfin Trout is a great solution.

Tears of the Kingdom is available on Nintendo Switch.
