In order to craft certain weapons within the game, you will need to know how to get feathers in Sons of the Forest. However, feathers aren’t the kind of resources that you can just pick up off the ground like sticks or rocks. You’ll have to follow a couple steps, and there are two different ways you can collect them. In this guide, we will go over both of the ways that you can collect feathers and what they are used for. Keep reading to learn how to get feathers in Sons of the Forest.

There are two different ways you can collect Feathers in-game. One is a more passive approach, while the other requires a bit of work. You can see the two methods below:

  • Kill birds and collect the feathers they drop
  • Build a birdhouse and collect feathers over time

Kill Birds

The first and quicker method of collecting feathers is simply killing birds. Every time you do this, a few feathers will fly up into the air around the place where the bird was hit. This can be really useful in areas where birds are more common, but be sure that you have a spear, as killing them with an axe is pretty difficult without the extra range that a spear gives you.

Build Birdhouses

The second, and more passive method of getting feathers is to build a birdhouse and wait for bird to leave feathers behind in it. This method can take a bit of time. Still, it also ensures that you have a steady supply of feathers coming in, whereas, with the first method, it depends on other factors, including the bird population, your weapons, and your ability to aim well and take them down.

To build a birdhouse, head into your building menu (B) and select the birdhouse in the Traps tab. Build it on the side of your base and wait. After a while, you will be able to collect a couple of feathers. The feathers will replenish over time, so you only have to build one or two birdhouses.

You can see it in actions here.
