Believe it or not, Manor Lords is such a deep game that certain features and mechanics might fly over even the most experienced builders’ heads. At first, you’ll be all happy about your villagers using the starting resources, building homes, and hunting a few animals. However, with how seasons work in the game, you’ll need one crucial thing to keep your Manor Lords‘ people warm during the harshest seasons: fuel and firewood. While both sound like different things, they are the same, and as long as you have a steady supply of firewood, you should be good to brave the white blanket of Winter.
How To Gather Firewood (and Turn It Into Fuel) in Manor Lords
Manor Lords isn’t too straightforward at telling you how to start getting fuel and firewood. However, those with keen eyes and unafraid of experimentation will find the resource soon. To do so, follow these steps:
- Head to the construction menu by pressing C.
- Head to the Gathering tab.
- From left to right, select the second option, which is the Woodcutter’s Lodge.
- Build it near an area with trees, and your settlers will start gathering Firewood.
Like many other materials in the game, your citizens will move when between facilities that need them. That is, assuming you already have a storehouse and a market stall. If you don’t, your serfs won’t be able to get any firewood for their homes or other endeavors.
One thing I recommend, especially during the early game, is always limiting the work area for your firewood gatherers in Manor Lords. You can do this by heading to the advanced tab after selecting the Woodcutter’s Lodge. The reason to do this is because if you don’t limit a workspace, you’ll be giving your workers free reins to deforest the whole land. While it might not seem like a bit of a thing, wait until you try to find a material only to see your citizens raze the land while working. So, always configure your work area before sending your serfs to do some woodcutting.
