Whether you’re a veteran or a new player who’s just starting your journey as a trainer, there’s always something to look forward to when playing Pokemon GO. Be it catching Pokemon in the wild, participating in Gym battles and events, hatching eggs, and so much more. Out of all these experiences, one of the most fun and challenging things is catching legendary Pokemon. While they can be hard to come by, it’s not impossible to add them to your collection. Fortunately, this time, players will get the chance to get Genesect, a legendary Bug/Steel-Type Pokemon in Pokemon GO. If you want to get your hands on this rare and powerful Pokemon, here’s everything you need to know about how to get Genesect in Pokemon GO.
Who is Genesect in Pokemon Go?
Genesect was initially discovered in the Unova region and is known as the “Paleozoic Pokemon.” This Bug and Steel-type Pokemon has a purple metallic body with exposed teeth, which gives it a unique and grinning appearance. With a laser-firing cannon attached to its back, this bipedal cybernetic insect-like creature is capable of firing different elemental beams.
What makes this Pokemon unique is that it is the only Pokemon that can learn Techno Blast, a powerful Normal-type move capable of dealing 120 damage. If you are one of the lucky folks able to capture a Genesect with Techno Blast, you’ll be able to further enhance this move with the Steel-type move Metal Claw to create a high-speed DPS combo for Gym and PvP battles.
How To Get Genesect in Pokemon GO
In Pokemon GO, Genesect is available in five-star Raids. You can catch Genesect during the upcoming Pokemon Go event in May 2023, lasting from May 2, 2023, to May 9, 2023. So, mark your calendars if you don’t want to miss out on this Pokemon!
To participate in the raid, open up your Pokemon GO app and look for a Gym with Genesect above it. Before you enter the raid, though, you need to keep in mind that you’ll be against Genesect with a Shock Drive. So, naturally, you’ll want to bring your best Pokemon or Genesect counters to the fight if you want a chance at capturing it.

Since Genesect is generally weak to Fire-type Pokemon, it should be easier for you to defeat him with a Charizard, Keldeo, or Victini in your team. Once you’ve defeated Genesect, you’ll have the opportunity to capture it. Upon capturing this Pokemon, make sure to aim your Poke Ball at the center and then throw it. Don’t forget that you can also use a Golden Razz Berry or Silver Pinap Berry if you want a better chance of catching it.
Pokemon GO is available on iOS and Android.
