The first zone you can explore in Silent Hill 2 is the Eastern South Vale. This open area contains several buildings that you can enter. While most of them are connected to the main story, there are some extra locations that are optional. One of these Silent Hill 2 zones is the Grand Market, and you have to find a passcode to unlock the keypad. I highly recommend exploring this section since the puzzle is pretty easy, and you can obtain some useful items inside.
How To Unlock Grand Market Keypad in Silent Hill 2
You can find the Grand Market on the northwest side of Nelly’s Bar in Silent Hill 2. Unfortunately, the front door is locked, so you need to use the backdoor to enter. Be careful when approaching this area since there will be an insect monster scurrying on the ground.
The backdoor will be locked with a keypad, and you must find a passcode to unlock it. The clue to this passcode won’t be found nearby, so you need to head to Sanders Street. Follow the road until you find a corpse leaning against a semi-truck. Next to the dead body, you will find a piece of paper giving you the clue to the puzzle.
Since there are three different puzzle difficulties, there are three possible passcodes for the Grand Market:
- Easy: 4442
- Normal: 4444
- Hard: 4446
Once you have found the passcode, you can enter the building. You won’t encounter any monsters inside this area, but you will find several items. On the shelves, there are some Health Drinks you can grab. You can also obtain Syringes and Handgun ammo. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to get a gun until you reach the Wood Side Apartments.
Once you have fully looted the Grand Market, you can head outside using the front door. Be careful, though, since monsters are roaming on the street.
