Like other life simulation games, acquiring raw materials is necessary to build structures and make an efficient base. Granite is one of the ores you need to have on you all the time when building said structures. Granite Tiles and Slabs, for example, are pretty essential pieces of items for making Machines and Stations. But where are the Granite nodes hiding in My Time at Sandrock? Well, their locations aren’t far from the town of Sandrock, but mining them could prove to be a bit problematic.

Granite nodes are primarily found in the Valley of Whispers area, just east and northeast of My Time at Sandrock main town. In the early game, the canyon is filled with dangerous poisonous gas, so you will need to obtain the Protective Suit first.

However, instead of going down the Valley, I suggest you keep following the railroad tracks. There, you might spot a handful of Granite nodes along the way. You can also find some Granites near the Mole Cave Abandoned Ruins. The place is indicated by the blue Pickhammer icon above. The Cave nodes are pretty essential to note since you can actually access them before clearing out the poison gas.

To get there, head towards the Valley of Whispers, then go around the Grand Mesa. You can go there by going southeast from the railroad tracks. Do not go down into the canyons. Keep going southwest past some ruined buildings, Imps, and Tripions, and you should arrive at the Cave. There should be some Granite and Spinel nodes around the nearby Fishing Hole. Mining a Granite node in My Time at Sandrock will reward you with up to four Granites and two Crystals.

To clear the poisonous gas and make the Valley free to roam in, complete the “Clear the Air” quest. Meanwhile, the Suit recipe for mining those Granite nodes will be yours once My Time at Sandrock’s “The Missing Leak” main quest is done. You’ll need these materials below and bring them to a Tailoring Machine to craft one:

  • Canvas x5
  • Fiber Mesh x3
  • Plastic Shell x4
  • Tempered Glass x2

Granite Usages

In My Time at Sandrock, Granite can be used to make Granite Tiles through a Civil Furnace. It takes four Granite and two hours to make one Tile. With Ore Refinery, you can refine 10 Granites into Crystals and Agates.

The item also works as a Gift, although most NPCs will feel Neutral about it when given one. Except for Fang and QiQi, they really don’t like Granite.
